February 2014
Healthcare Art Report

I hope this note finds you warm and safe. It seems that many parts of the country have had more than the usual amount of snow this year. Winter storms are often a hassle, but a beautiful blanket of soft, snow quiets my mind. Snow covered landscapes in their untrodden state are nature's blank canvases just waiting for the first berry or cardinal to emerge. At Distinctive Art Source, we see each new endeavor as a blank canvas - an opportunity to start fresh creating new experiences and opportunities for our clients and our staff.

I thoroughly enjoy helping our clients take a fresh look at their facility's visual experience. While we often work on new construction projects, we also collaborate with clients who are in the midst of planning sessions focusing on their in house visual experiences, or they may be planning minor or major renovation projects. This is the perfect time to take a fresh look at existing elements to understand their purpose, use and need.

Removing outdated signage, bulletin boards, directories, and faded or inappropriate artwork can greatly de-clutter hallways as well as patient and family spaces. Once de cluttered, a "blank canvas" emerges on which you can create an entirely new first impression.

Kudos to those of you in the midst of "finding your canvas." Know that is it worth the effort and can often reduce new costs. If you would like to share your story, hit reply and I will be happy to encourage you!

Sincerely,
