Helloooooo...Titans!

I hope that you are enjoying your first few days of summer. Around here we are wrapping up the year, gearing up for summer school, and interviewing talented teachers to pick the very best for your Titans! Our final Titan Talk of 2014-2015 will be MOSTLY celebration, with a few key pieces of information at the bottom related to proofs of residency, immunizations, summer office hours, and Kick Off activities for 2016-2017.

Let's Celebrate!

Spring Fling

Thank you PTSA for an awesome job!  There were lots of Titans in attendance and great activities.  The Pie station was my favorite.

Congrats to:

Ms. Springman and Mrs. Cowles
Parent Volunteer Lisa Cowles was honored as our Volunteer of the Year at the Fulton County Luncheon. We were joined by Harry the Hawk as well as many others who came out to show their appreciation. Thank you Ms. Cowles, and ALL VOLUNTEERS, for all that you do!

Chattahoochee Nature Center Visitors

Congrats to Mr. Tim Feilen for hosting the Chattahoochee Nature Center's Hunters in the Sky.  Our 7th graders learned about Ecology, by using a live Hawk and Falcon!

Join me in congratulating Mr. Sam Kimbrel, who has been selected to participate in the Aspiring Leadership Program for Fulton County this summer. This is a highly selective process, and we are excited for him.

Kudos to 7th graders Sally Blumberg, Gwen Dukes, and Jill Pfalzgraf!  They were selected as finalists for the Project Girls National Computer Science Competition.  Their "Track My Bus" app will allow parents and students to check on bus arrival times.  6th grader Divya Nori was also selected as a finalist for the Project Girls National Computer Science Competition.   She created an app - World Well Wizard.  This app directs people to the nearest water well, in areas of the world where water is scarce.

7th grader Nicole Blandford earned a scholarship to attend the Southeastern Writer's conference. She is the youngest winner in the conference's 40 year history!

Our Staff/Student Soccer Game was a smashing success, as always ... though there seems to be some discrepancy on who won. (Don't tell, but I think the teachers cheated!)

Ultimate Frisbee Clinic sponsored by E.R.I.C. (Early Recognition Is Critical),
Did you know our PE classes participated in an ultimate Frisbee clinic from
E.R.I.C.
(Early Recognition Is Critical), while learning about cancer awareness and living healthy.

Mr. Mitchell with Governor Deal

Before he leaves us to move across the country, our very own Mr. Mitchell was selected to represent Fulton County school counselors at the Governor's Office. Such an honor. He will certainly be missed.

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Baugh has been named Chorus Master for the Atlanta Opera Children's Chorus! He will continue his work with us, but this is just even more evidence that we do have the best Music Department in town!

8th Grade Dance

Thank you parents and faculty for supporting the 8th grade dance.  As usual, our PTSA went above and beyond to make the evening breathtakingly, beautiful. Everyone had a great time!  Follow this link to see the fun...

Informational Items

July 31st - Mark Your Calendars!  Several activities are taking place at EPMS on July 31st, starting new traditions. Please mark your calendars and make sure your children don't miss out.

ALL 6th GRADERS will come to school for their Orientation Day from 8:00am - 1:00pm (corrected end time). This program will be run by 6th grade staff as well as our selected 8th grade WEB leaders. It will be full of fun and will also be the day that they get their schedule and locker, so don't miss out. Parents may drop off and pick up, but this is a day for students. See later information re: Information Day for Parents. Buses will be provided in a sweep bus format to select locations for those whose families cannot provide transportation. Details to come.

All 8th graders who are WEB leaders should arrive to the school at 7:00am to prepare for the 8:00 arrival explained above. Parents will be required to provide transportation in the morning for these students, as buses only provide 8:00 drop off and 1:00 pick up.

All 8th graders participating in AVID will also come to school for their Orientation from 8:00 - 1:00pm. These students can use the aforementioned buses.

INFORMATION DAY:

6th grade Parents will come to Information Day for 6th graders on August 5th from 10:00 - 12:00 to handle all fees and paperwork. Students will not attend on this day as classrooms and hallway will be unavailable due to teachers attending the STUDENT KICK OFF on July 31st. All 6th grade parents must have their Golden Ticket to participate in Information Day activities. If you have not turned in your proofs of residence and picked up your golden ticket before July 31st, you will be required to complete this first, which will probably be a rather long line with a long wait. TIP: Come get your Golden Ticket now (details below)! Don't wait.

7th and 8th grade students will attend Information Day on August 5th from 1:00 - 3:00pm. Schedules, Info Day Packets, and Lockers will be available in their advisement classrooms. Textbooks will not be handed out, as most textbooks are online, though there will be a form in the packet for parents to indicate a request for textbooks if that is preferred. Schedules will be available as well as fees/paperwork, but not textbooks (no lines).
