This week at Elkins Pointe

Hello, Titans!

Well, even if last week was short, it was packed! In just two days, the 7th grade Orchestra group earned straight superiors at LGPE, Rob Cleveland did an amazing job with his storytelling, our new Japanese Honor Society students were inducted (pictured here) Scoliosis Screening was completed, and Mr. Mitchell worked with our PTSA to put together the biggest and best College and Career Day yet! With representatives from major universities, branches of the military, local colleges, Princeton Review, and businesses throughout the Atlanta area, our 8th graders had a wonderful opportunity to think BIG about their future.

Let's Celebrate!

Roboteks

Congratulations to our Roboteks team, who placed at the state level competition in our first year with a team. This is a major undertaking, and we would like to thank all of our parents who give their time to practice and help the students succeed. A special thank you to the Malapati and Soneji families - who do so much behind the scenes to make it work.

Science Olympiad

Once again our Science Olympiad team placed 1st at Regionals! This means they will definitely move on to state and make us proud. We can't wait to see what they will do.

FCS Science Fair

Rachel Abraham won 3rd place in the category of Energy and Transportation at the FCS Science Fair. Her project was called "Here Comes the Sun," and she looked at the ideal angle to place solar panels in order to convert the most solar energy to electrical energy.

21st Century Learning Corner

by Anne Sexton, School Technology Specialist

The term "21st Century Classroom" is used to describe a classroom which prepares students for life in our technology centric world. The classroom contains tools which engage students, and provide personalized, self-directed learning opportunities.

What does that look like at Elkins Pointe?

Last week we were very excited to receive a delivery of equipment for the installation of Epson Brightlink Interactive Projectors in every classroom. I will be conducting extensive professional development on these new interactive projectors so that teachers can use them with confidence to provide the best possible learning environment for your student!

Stay tuned for more updates on how teachers are using 21st Century tools and techniques to give your students a powerful learning experience each day.
