This week at Elkins Pointe

Hello, Titans!

What  a great time we had last week! Our band students performed beautifully with the high schoolers at Milton, 8th grade social studies teachers are preparing their students for a mock election tomorrow, and our K9 Sweep on Friday sent a clear message to our students about drugs and alcohol. I am pleased to report that no drugs/alcohol were found - even though I am sure the teenage rumor mill made it sound more exciting than it was.

Let's Celebrate!

Sports News

Congrats to our Lady Titans on their win against Northwestern Wednesday night. It was a great game and true competition!

Kudos to both our Junior Hornets and Junior Eagles who made it to playoffs for football this weekend ... stay tuned for updates!

The 8th grade Junior Milton Eagles had a perfect season...undefeated regional champions!

Fundraising Updates

Elkins Pointe raised a whopping $6,361.00 for the Fulton County Charitable fund, as compared to last year's $3,850.00. Thank you, TITANS, for being so generous.

PTSA Membership Contest

These teachers have done a wonderful job of talking up PTSA membership in their classroom. The Dessert winners (highest percentage of student members) are Ms. Kabore, Ms. Hutson, and Ms. Lightcap. The Pizza winners (highest percentage of family participation) are Ms. Tapia, Ms. Marmiol, and Ms. Okiyama.  Thanks teachers for such a great job!

JROTC Visit

A special thank you to Cadet Reeves!  Mr. Reeves is a member of the Roswell JROTC program who, along with other cadets, put on a series of awesome demonstrations as well as sharing a wealth of information about the program.  Several Titans are very interested and are eager to sign up!

Staff Member Recognition

We would like to recognize our very own Data Support Specialist, Ida Ward, who has recently been supporting other schools in FCS by developing her colleagues to become better at what they do. Way to go, Ms. Ward!

Honor Chorus

Congratulations to these students:  Miranda Benson, Hannah Harrison, Rachel Howerton, Maddie Jankowski, Jacky Mohr, Julia Neagu, Owen Carney, Dellaney Cullen, Alex Cross, Leah Faupel, Shelly Seth, Sonoma Tady, and Jordan Thorn. They performed this past Saturday with the GMEA District V Honor Chorus!

Informational Items

Carpool Reminders

Please remember that there are only two places to park for carpool: 1) in the carpool line or lot in the south parking lot and 2) in the car parking near buses if you are in a rush. Parents are not permitted to pick up students beside the school or over beside the cafeteria. While it may seem a bit more hassle for you, doing carpool the way that we do allows us to properly supervise the students and avoid accidents in the parking lot. Thank you for your support.

Adult Literacy Classes

Adult Literacy classes are being offered this year.  The classes are free!  Please review the schedule and general information in English and Spanish.  Please contact Kristine Allen and Makesha Sims for any additional information.

Pajama and Slippers Day

Please help support the Dian Fossey fund for Gorilla Habitats by wearing your favorite Pajamas and Slippers on November 13.  The cost to participate is $1, which will go to a worthy cause!

Riverwood International Studies Magnet

Eighth graders who are zoned to attend a Fulton County school and meet the academic criteria for Riverwood's International Studies Magnet Program may apply to attend Riverwood.  The magnet application and criteria will be available on the Riverwood website in late November.  Under the upcoming dates section is a list of information sessions and tours.

Football Playoffs

Are you ready for some football? Two of our local feeder teams have playoff games this weekend.  All three Roswell teams along with two Milton teams made the playoffs, with 7th grade Roswell and both 7th & 8th grade Milton teams winning their Regions!

  • 6th Grade Roswell Jr. Hornets play Saturday @ Johns Creek High at 9am vs Johns Creek
  • 8th Grade Roswell Jr. Hornets play Saturday @ Roswell High at 5:30 vs. Pope

Book Fair

The Media Center will host a Book Fair November 10-14 during regular school hours. We welcome any and all visitors. Plus, we're giving away two Yankee Candles!  Patrons will receive a ticket with every purchase. At the end of the fair, we'll have a drawing and announce the winners!

Graduation Report

Soccer Intramurals

The Soccer Intramural program will be open to all 3 grade levels. Physicals are not required. The Soccer Intramural will be split into 3 "seasons" with the first one starting in November and ending in December. Seasons will typically last for 4 weeks with practices taking place after school on Monday and Wednesday from 4:15PM - 5PM. We will begin our first practice on November 10th. Students must have own transportation home promptly at 5PM. The first 30 students that sign up and meet requirements will be eligible to play. Sign-up sheet will be posted beginning this Monday outside room D101 in the 7th grade hall.  For any questions please contact Ms. Reyes.

'Tis the Season for Caring and Sharing

NFCC Food Drive

November 5th - November 20th : North Fulton Charities and our community needs our help. For Thanksgiving, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for a Thanksgiving meal and grocery store gift cards in $25 increments. Last year we, along with other schools in the area, provided the makings for a Thanksgiving meal to over 850 families! Please help our community and families this year enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving. Your child can bring their donations to their teacher. Click here for a list of most urgently needed items.

Interact Toy Drive

Donate a toy and make a child smile!  The Interact Club is hosting a toy drive for North Fulton Charities for the holiday season.  There will be drop boxes around the school (see upcoming dates).  For additional information, contact Mrs. Steedly, Mrs. Marmiol, or Mrs. Ray-Diaz.
