This week at Elkins Pointe

Happy Monday, Titans!

While last week may have been a short one, it was packed with excitement! Our Reflections Reception on Wednesday morning was beautiful, and I heard great things about the Fine Arts Showcase on Thursday night. Classrooms were buzzing with exciting lessons, including a few of our 8th graders dressing as colonists! (Nathan Gay and Kyle Meng pictured here).  Junior Beta Induction went well on Friday evening. A short week full of celebration for our stellar Titans! This morning our 8th graders are off to a strong start with their ITBS testing, and we are on track for another great week.

Roswell Youth Day Parade

If you have not heard the news yet, I am pleased to announce that EPMS brought home the Grand Marshal trophy on Saturday the 11th for the Roswell Youth Day Parade! Thank you to the Cowles Family and to all of the organizations that helped sponsor the float (see below in PTA news for more detail). Our On Pointe Builder's Club did a great job with the artwork and fundraising ... over $500 for the Play It Forward Organization. Way to demonstrate our theme for the year: #epmscommunitycares!

Reflections Competition

A huge round of congratulations to our Reflections participants! The work was impressive this year, with over 500 submissions, it took a lot of hard work to narrow down our finalists. Please take the time to note all of those who supported our work in the PTA news below, and thank them when you next see them. Specifically, I would like to honor the students who placed in the competition. Such hard work and talent was a great thing to witness on an early Wednesday morning!

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is launching its 20th annual search for young people who have made a meaningful difference in their communities through volunteer service over the past year. If your child has been heavily involved in the community during this last year,  I encourage you to share this opportunity with your students. Share this application with your students. They must complete it by Nov. 4. Complete instructions and information can be found here. Return all applications to evanss2@fultonschools.org.

Report Cards

Did you see a report card Friday afternoon? That's right, progress reports came home with students. Be sure to ask them for it and take time to have a conversation about how they are doing in school. They will care more if they know that you care!

Flu Season

It is that time of year, everyone. Please remind your children to be careful when they are at school, particularly refraining from sharing drinks and food in the cafeteria. And if your child is not feeling well, please keep them home until they feel better. While we appreciate their desire to be at school, we want them to heal quickly (and keep their germs at home). Thank you!

Linda Schultz Community Meeting

Don't forget that Linda Schultz will host her monthly community meeting here at EPMS this month, 9:30am this Wednesday in the cafeteria. Be sure to attend so that you can stay "in the know" for Fulton too!

Red Ribbon Week

And finally, don't forget to make note of Red Ribbon Week below. It's a fun week for the kids, but it's also a time when we talk about Drug Awareness and making good decisions. Last year, we even brought Roswell PD in for an announced search of the school with their K-9 unit. Who knows what this year will have in store!
