This week at Elkins Pointe

Happy Monday, Titans!

What a lovely week last week, full of a bit of Fall weather, engaging lessons, the end to Soccer season, and some Friday night football! The administrative team attended Roswell High School's Middle School night this Friday, and we had a great time reconnecting with former students, not to mention the extra energy that comes with standing on the sidelines. We all wore our pink to support Breast Cancer Research, and Mr. Huff was a gracious host as always, even joining us as we climbed into the RHS helmet for a fun picture.

Robotics Club

Thank you to CTO Leidos, for supporting our work with the Robotics Club by providing a grant to cover the majority of our expenses. The Malapati family has worked to coordinate with offices in both Virginia and Georgia to make this happen. We cannot express our gratitude enough for this generous donation!

Reflections Thanks

Reflections Reception Wednesday, Oct 15, at 7:45 AM!

Thank you to all the students and parents who supported Reflections by entering the Reflections contest!  Elkins Pointe more than doubled the amount of entries from last year. We are proud to say that we had over 330 entries, with 22 entries moving on to compete in the North Fulton District Level.  Parents, please be on the lookout for an email/voicemail notifying you that your student is a finalist.  The REFLECTIONS RECEPTION is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15th at 7:45 am at Elkins Pointe (Note: This is right after the fall break).  The Reflections Reception will be celebrating the 22 pieces from each category (Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Film. Dance) plus many honorable mentions from Literature and Visual Arts.

A Special "Thank You" to Ms. Springman and all the teachers who supported the Reflections Program, because fostering creativity  "[Empowers] Students for Tomorrow's Global Society."  Thank you to the PTSA Reflections Chairs Veronica O'Brien and Jeannette Jungslager, and PTSA Vice Presidents of Student Services Amy Arnett and Vickie Holland.  Please help us give a "Shout Out" to Halcomb Plumbing www.halcombplumbing.com for their Business Sponsorship of the Reflections Program.

Roswell Youth Day Parade

DON'T FORGET THE ROSWELL YOUTH DAY PARADE

THIS WEEKEND!

You are invited to walk in the Youth Day Parade with the Elkins Pointe SNOOPY FLOAT!

On Saturday, Oct. 11 at 9:30 am, all students, parents, teachers & staff are invited to come and walk behind the Elkins Pointe Youth Day Float.

Here is some information you need to know:

  • Meet at the EPMS float located on Mimosa Blvd. in front of the First Baptist Church at 9:30 am. Look for Snoopy and his red dog house!  The roads will be closed early for the 5K & the parade; consider alternate routes (i.e. Grimes Bridge Rd).  FYI - City Hall is a great place to park.
  • Students MUST be accompanied on the parade route by an adult! This is not a drop off event, children can easily get lost, especially once they are in Roswell Area Park!
  • Wear TITAN BLUE or your favorite EPMS T-shirt, and a baseball cap to show you are "Teaming Up with the Titans!"
  • Wear your most comfortable sneakers/tennis shoes. The parade route is approximately 1 mile (20+ minute walk).
  • Bring Candy to throw at the crowd.  Marchers should bring a heavy duty tote (i.e. reusable grocery bag) to toss candy. Please send individually wrapped candy to the Front Desk or bring a bag to the parade.
  • If you have any questions about marching in the parade, please contact Lisa Cowles at 678-358-6545 or cowlesfamily@bellsouth.net.
  • The theme this year is "Play it Forward" and Elkins Pointe is raising money to give to the Friends of Roswell Parks "Play it Forward" Program (https://www.facebook.com/friendsoftheroswellparks).  If you would like to "Play It Forward,"  please send in your donation to the Front Desk.

Thank you to our sponsors for making the EPMS float possible!

Fulton County Schools Parent Survey

Urgent, do not forget!  On Monday, September 29, 2014, the Fulton County School District began the external review process prescribed by AdvancED.  As a key supporter of the work that Fulton County Schools is doing to promote the success of our students, we ask that you take part in a short, but important, survey.  These surveys are intended to provide our schools and district with important feedback about our efforts to create career- and college-ready students.  We thank you for your participation in this crucial review process, and look forward to your continued support in our efforts to create better outcomes for  all students.  In order to meet the requirements of re-accreditation, each school must meet these requirements. We will need your help to make this happen.

o    A minimum of 60% of current staff must participate
o    A minimum of 40% of current students must participate
o    A minimum of 20% of current parents must participate

In order to complete the survey, please go to: http://www.advanc-ed.org/survey/public/0530556 Please be assured that your responses to this survey will be anonymous. Your honest opinion is appreciated.

Lego Club

We are seeking donations for our 2014-2015 TITAN LEGO Club. I know that many of you have containers of Legos tucked away in an attic collecting dust. Why not donate them to us? This club encourages  students to design and create ... developing creative thinking skills that apply to problem solving. If you have any to offer for our team project this year please send them to the EPMS office care of Ms. Herron or Ms.Cote. We are developing a LEGO depiction of TITAN Pride for display in the Commons Area.

Teacher Help Sessions

Did you know that our teachers offer help sessions every week? Remember that the list of times is available on our school's website, or you can bookmark this link for future reference. Just be sure to let the teacher know that you are coming!
