Happy Friday, Titans!

We have had a busy week at EPMS, as always - filled with holiday cheer. Our chorus students gave a magnificent performance at RHS on Tuesday. I could not help but sing along myself. Our 3rd Annual Holiday Charity Event was a smashing success last night, as we gave our time to North Fulton Community Charities before having a celebratory dinner. A special thank you to our staff and families who gave donations as well.

This week at EPMS
Lots to Celebrate!
  • Congratulations to Henna Mian, who has made it to the All State Chorus! We are so proud of her.
  • Rhea Daswani's poster was selected as the district winner in the recent competition hosted by the Lions Club! She will receive her award at the Convention to be held on March 15, 2014. So exciting.
  • Thank you to our Elkins staff members who spent the last month growing out facial hair for No Shave November, an awareness and fundraising initiative for the American Cancer Society.  Students, parents, and staff donated money for the chance to shave 1 staff member's beard on the morning announcements at the end of the month.  It was a successful fundraiser and a lot of fun for the students. Thank you for your support.
  • Mrs. Collins' 3rd period class would like to thank Mr. Clint Brownlee for a wonderful presentation. They truly enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to experience a hands on activity focused on the formation of minerals, rocks, and fossils.
  • We are excited to announce that during the first three weeks of December, Fiona Hatton from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) will be joining us in our Adapted PE classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to teach our special needs students how to play tennis.  Thank you to teacher Mr. Lambert for arranging this opportunity.

Items to Know:
  • This week's run-off election for our parent representative to serve in the one-year position has resulted in yet another tie. The members of the council that have already been elected or appointed will meet on December 13th for our first meeting at 7:30am in the teacher lunchroom. Remember that all parents are welcome to attend the meetings. At this meeting, we will vote between the two parents to determine which will serve in our elected position. Additionally we will vote on our two community representatives, which I recommend to the council.
  • Ms. Grigsby is still in need of parent volunteers to assist her with the Book Fair next week. Please be sure to email her at Grigsby@fultonschools.org if you are able to help out.
  • Remember that final exams will be held during the final week before winter break. Click here to see the schedule. Note that 7th graders have a different schedule due to their field trip during the same week. The 7th grade students should know their group (A,B, or C). If not, their Social Studies Teacher will know. Please be sure that students study and prepare for their finals so that they can end the semester on a high note. Remember that any absences during this week should seek permission from the principal. Be sure to send your requests in early so that teachers have time to prepare. These should be limited, as students will not be permitted to take their final exams early.
  • I hope to see you at our upcoming concerts for Orchestra and Band, with Orchestra next Wednesday at RHS (7pm) and Band at EPMS on Dec 17 at 6pm.
  • And finally, remember that the final day for this semester is December 20th. This means that report cards and summer school applications will come home on January 8th. Please use these final two weeks to monitor Home Access Center closely and help your child to get their grades up before December 20th.
Community News:
