Hello, Titans!

While it may have been a cold week outside, we had a great week inside at EPMS. I've been in many classrooms this week observing instruction, and I love to see the students focused, enjoying their lessons. Last week's Legacy of Excellence ceremony was lovely as well. We have loaded my Principal of the Year speech to our school's website, on the right-hand side for those who would like to see it.

This week at EPMS
Let's Celebrate!

  • With the holiday season upon us, we have quite a few concerts and opportunities for us to come together as a community and celebrate our students. Don't miss out on these events:
    • Don't forget the Talent Show next Thursday, November 21st at 7:00pm. Come on out to enjoy the show!
    • On December 3rd at 7:00pm, our Chorus will perform a joint concert with Roswell High in the Roswell High School Auditorium.
    • Our 8th grade Orchestra will perform December 11th at 7:00, Roswell High Auditorium.
    • And December 17th we will host a Band Concert here at EPMS. Hope to see you there.
  • We are so very proud of our students that participated in the PTSA Reflections Competition this year. We just received our results for the students that will move forward to the STATE-Level competition. The Exhibit for the winners will be at the Teaching Museum, November 20th, from 6-9PM. We are excited to announce the following winners:
    • Photography: Lyndie Kent 2nd place for 8th Grade
    • Dance: Gabby DuChateau 1st place for  8thGrade
    • Film/Video: Danny Travers 2nd place for 6th Grade
    • Film/Video: Elizabeth Nicholson 2nd place for 7th Grade
    • Literature: Carney Owen 1st place for 6th Grade
    • Literature: Isabel Barnard Honorable Mention for 7th Grade
  • The 8th graders on the DC trip are having lots of fun, and so is Mr. Willis! I've gotten several updates from him, and I'm not sure who is enjoying the trip more, the students or the chaperones!
  • The students had a lot of fun at the "Choosing Character over  Bullying" assembly with Mr. Cary Trivanovich on Tuesday. Many teachers stated that this was one of the best assemblies they've ever attended, and I know that the students enjoyed it as well. Mr. Trivanovich is pictured here with our guidance counselors Mr. Mitchell and Ms. Smith. A special thanks to Ms. Smith for all of her hard work putting this together.
  • Come help cheer on the Milton Jr Eagles 6th Grade Football team in their semi-final game against Rome this Saturday at 2p.m. at Milton HS Football Stadium.  All students get in FREE!!!  Bring your friends, spread the word and come support your 6th Grade Jr Eagles!!!!!
  • We are also very proud of Henna Mian, who placed 5th for Public Forum Debate in South Carolina this weekend.  Her topic was NSA, and she did a great job. Way to go Henna!

SPECIAL NOTE: Remember that we are taking donations of non-perishable food items for North Fulton Community Charities this coming week. Please fill a grocery bag this weekend and send it with your child next week. This organization does so much for our community. It's time for us to show them our support.

Stay in the Loop:
  • Are you coming out for School Beautification Day tomorrow? We will be here from 9:00am until 3:00pm if you want to come out and help us give the school a facelift for Fall!
  • Progress Reports come home Wednesday, November 20th - be sure to look for it.
  • School Board President Linda Schultz will host her community meeting at Sweet Apple Elementary School on November 20th as well, at 9:30.
  • Have you voted for our Local School Governance Council yet? Visit our school's site for information about the candidates, or if you are ready to vote, simply visit: http://portal.fultonschools.org/CharterSystem/Pages/Cohort2Elections.aspx. Have your HAC user/pass ready.
  • The Roswell High School Spring Musical would like to extend auditions to middle school students as well this year. Click here for more details.
  • Milton High School has moved the date for their AP Night in the Spring. AP Night will be February 3. Rising 9th Grade Parent Night will be February 4.  Parents will receive information on course offerings including electives for 9th graders. Please adjust your calendars accordingly.
  • Do you know what NO SHAVE NOVEMBER is all about? No-Shave November is a unique way to raise cancer awareness. The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. Multiple staff members are not shaving the month of November to raise funds for No-Shave November.  Grade levels will receive free seating at lunch as part of the competition. In addition, students receive tickets for their contributions.  During the first week of December, the tickets will be drawn for a chance to shave the beard of their choosing on the morning announcements the first week of December. All funds raised will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Northwestern MS, Hopewell MS, and the NWLC Area Superintendent Dr. Shandor are all also participating. Please help us support this worthy cause by sending a donation in with your child.
  • Please do not forget to complete your Georgia Parent Survey at http://admin.doe.k12.ga.us/gadoe/sla/gaparents.nsf/Survey.xsp.
  • As you prepare for the winter holiday, please remember that we have school-wide exams December 18 - 20 and that students should be present for the assessments. If you have an exception and need your child to miss school, please be sure to contact me directly to seek an excused absence. Students will be required to take final exams after the winter holiday as make ups and will not be allowed to do so before.

Hve a great weekend, Titans!
