Hello, Titans!
This has been a week full of opportunities to connect with the school. Students had all week to review club opportunities and sign up for areas of interest. Thursday night we had a packed house for Curriculum Night as well. Though parking was difficult, the parents enjoyed the evening, and we received many compliments about the excellent teachers and welcoming environment that we have created here at Elkins Pointe.

Let's Celebrate!
- Do you have celebrations? Let me know so that we can let the community know that we are PROUD TITANS!
- We just learned this week of a very unique opportunity for the staff at Elkins Pointe Middle School. The FCBOE department for English Language Learners has utilized some grant funding to provide a full day of Kagan Cooperative Learning for our staff in October! We are so excited to have this opportunity, as this is a top notch training that is usually far too expensive for a school to afford. Thank you to Barbara Beaverson, the ESOL Coordinator for FCBOE for supporting us in our effort to differentiate learning for your children every day.
- Thank you to the Roswell City Council for taking a moment to recognize me at the City Council Meeting this past Monday. The honor of being Fulton County's Principal of the Year is definitely a highlight for the Roswell Community and another opportunity for EPMS to share all of our great work. Without Mayor Wood and Council Members taking the time to recognize that, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to say publicly, once again, that I am a very PROUD TITAN.
- Congratulations to our Media Specialist Mrs. Susan Grigsby, who has been invited to attend the School Library Journal Leadership Summit in Austin. She is an excellent representation of our school in everything she does, and we are so excited that she has this opportunity.
- Thank you to the many families who have already donated to our Elkins Pointe PTA this year! Having raised approximately $7,200 so far, we are on our way to our $25,000 goal. Our hope is for all families to contribute ANY AMOUNT they can to help us reach this goal. Our PTA uses these funds for fun and exciting enrichment programs directly benefiting students at Elkins. Remember that your donation is tax deductible. Click here to see what last year's PTA expenditures included.

Stay Informed and Plugged In- Please remember that we need students here every day. With the holiday weekend, we have had several families take extended vacations over the long weekend. We work hard to maximize instructional time here at EPMS, which means that we do not lessen the load around holidays. I know there are always special opportunities that have exceptions, and for those, please remember to seek approval in advance from me. I may only approve four days per year. Thank you for your support in our effort to deliver quality instruction every day at EPMS.
- Home Access Center will be enabled for parents to view next week. Remember that you should check this regularly to view your child's grades, and you will also use Home Access Center to vote for our first Local School Governance Council. If you have not picked up your password, please be sure to do so soon, in the front office.
- Speaking of the Local School Governance Council, the window to submit your interest in serving begins on Tuesday. Visit http://portal.fultonschools.org/chartersystem/pages/cohort2implementation.aspx to learn more about the council and to submit your form to be considered as a candidate. Please give careful consideration to the opportunity to run for election. We need council members that can commit to both this year and next year, at minimum. Most importantly, we need council members that want to be involved and make decisions for the betterment of the school and as a representation of the entire community. Please contact me if you have questions. springmanm@fultonschools.org
- Fulton County Schools has now consolidated all school websites under the Fulton County Schools' umbrella. Effective September 15, our website address will permanently change. Please bookmark the new address: http://school.fultonschools.org/ms/elkinspointe/. The site is also accessible from the http://fultonschools.org website by clicking on Schools on the left menu.
- Did you know that the school store is open Monday-Friday from 7:50-8:40 AM with many of the supplies that your child may need for school? The school store stocks locker shelves, notebooks, binders, locker decorations, pens, mechanical pencils, highlighters, art class sketchbooks and many other supplies. Gift cards are also available! Encourage your student to stop by before school to become familiar with what is available. The store is in the hallway to the right of the front office. Thank you for your support! All proceeds go directly back to our school to support our Titan's educational needs.
