Hello, Titans!

We had a week full of achievements and phone-blasts, didn't we? Plenty of celebrations to share, so I will get right to it.

Things to Celebrate:

  • Congratulations to our Science Olympiad students, who performed well at an invitational last weekend. Based on the results, we believe that we'll see great things at the upcoming Regional Tournament.
  • Our Titans also did well at the Science Fair this past weekend, with two second place winners and two 3rd place winners. A special wish goes to Jessica Jensen and Lillian Dukes, who have qualified for the state-level competition in March. This week we will post an article on the website with full details. Way to go, everyone!
  • Last year's copy of The Echo, our EPMS yearbook, was awarded a rating of Superior which is the highest honor a yearbook can achieve. The book was evaluated and graded by Georgia Scholastic Press Association, part of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at The University of Georgia. We are so proud of our Yearbook Staff and Ms. Jones for all of their hard work!
  • Our Technology Titans performed beautifully at the FCS Technology Competition as well, with two teams placing first and moving on to the state level competition at Macon State University in March. We wish Cassandra Manrique, Brison Mann, and Charles Fiske good luck and know they will represent us well. Visit our website next week for a full article on this as well.
  • To wrap up a week of excitement, our 7th grade basketball teams pulled out a win against Crabapple Middle School Friday night, with the girls winning 28-19 and the boys closing it with a score of 52-41. WOW! Way to TITAN UP!

Things to Know:

  • Attention 7th grade parents! The 7th grade Game Night and Social is coming on Friday, March 1st at 7:15pm until 9pm in the gym. Students can listen to music while they play basketball, ping pong, Wii games, or just eat dinner & hang out with their friends. Tickets are $5 and include a Chick-fil-a sandwich, soda or water & a bag of chips. Concessions will be open so bring extra money for candy and treats. Ticket sales start Friday Feb. 22nd at 7:45am and will be sold every morning and during lunch thru Thursday, Feb. 28th.
  • Remember that the 7th grade field trip forms and the $35 payment for the Georgia Aquarium field trip are due by February 14th. Have you seen the form? If not, ask your child to bring one home or pick it up in the office. 7th grade teachers will email them home this week as well.
  • Don't forget that our 8th graders will have Career Day this coming Wednesday, during 1st and 2nd period.
  • We will participate in Hoops for Heart on Friday, February 8th, an annual tradition at EPMS. Please encourage students to join in the fun and remind them to wear red on Friday.
  • Make sure you come out and join us for the Orchestra Pre-Festival Concert this Tuesday night, February 5th, at 7pm.
  • Valentine's Grams go on sale later this coming week, a fundraiser for our lovely P.T.A that does so much for our students and staff. Stop by in the morning to purchase a Valentine's Gram for your child (or even a thank you for a staff member).
  • Remember that the first progress reports for the semester come home on February 13th. Please be sure to look for them.
  • Last but certainly not least, don't forget to join us for the CRCT Parent Workshop tomorrow morning. Sessions are available at 9am, 10am, or 11am. Come learn what the CRCT is all about and, most importantly, how you can help your child at home.

Did You Know?

  • When the CRCT is replaced by the PARCC assessment in two years, the entire test will be given online. Teachers and students must get comfortable with technology as an integral part of curriculum and assessment. Our recent purchase of nearly 100 iPad minis for teachers and students (in addition to our iPad cart) is a step in the right direction. Keep reading the Titan Talk for more details!

Have a great weekend, Titans!
