Good afternoon, Titans!

What a lovely day to end a busy week. This week we were busy preparing for the Georgia Writing Test for our 8th graders next week, a chorus concert, report cards, and even a Spelling Bee!

Things to Celebrate:

  • We are so excited for our spelling bee participants. It took several rounds to get to the finalists because all of our spellers were so talented. Please congratulate Nyiah Mekara as our runner-up and Rylyn Monahan as the winner of the EPMS Spelling Bee. Rylyn will compete at the district competition in just two weeks. We wish her luck!
  • Congratulations to our Yearbook Team, who has received a Superior Rating on their yearbook. More details to come, but we are (already) so proud of them and wanted to share the news.
  • Our chorus performed beautifully Monday night. As I sat in the bleachers, several parents commented to me that they were impressed by our students' sound and presentation. By the way, these were not just EPMS parents. I was so proud of them!

Things to Know:

  • Remember that report cards went home on Tuesday. Be sure to review this and discuss grades with your child. Any student who failed a course first semester should have also had a note attached about the possibility of summer school. Please be sure to return the completed form if this applies to your child.
  • Are you aware of the amazing classes that North Fulton Community Charities offer to the public? Check out this flyer for more information.
  • If your child will be in 9th grade next year and is interested in trying out for cheerleading at Milton High School for the 2013-2014 season, please attend a MANDATORY MEETING on Wednesday, January23rd  in the CAFETERIA at Milton High School at 6:30 p.m. Students and parents should both attend.
  • If your child was invited to the Writing Workshop tomorrow, please be sure they can attend. Students received invitations if they were identified as needing extra support before the test. Please don't miss out on this opportunity.
  • Elkins Pointe MS is hosting our Day of Service Monday, from 9am - 1pm. If you can devote some time to beautifying our campus, please bring yourself, your smile, and some energy.
  • Optimist Club: This information went home to students on the announcements this week: Think you know how to talk? Could you give a speech so good that people will actually give you a prize? If you think so or would like to learn how come meet in Mr. Davison's room, F114, to learn about the Optimist Club International's Oratorical Contest.
  • Are you interested in going on a Ski Trip? Or learning how to ski? Click here for more information.
  • Is your child going on the 8th Grade Field Trip? Attached here, please find the letters that went home with report cards on Tuesday.   English    Spanish
  • The 7th grade classes are preparing for their March 7th trip to the Georgia Aquarium.  Field Trip forms and payments of $35 should be returned to advisement teachers on or before February 14th.
  • Japanese National Honor Society (JNHS) members and parents: JNHS Induction Ceremony will be held Wednesday, January 23rd in room A-180 (Johnson sensei's classroom) beginning at 5:30 p.m.
  • It is the time of year that we begin speaking to elementary schools and incoming parents about all of our great work here at EPMS. We need your help! Don't hesitate to spread the good news when someone asks you. Best of all, suggest they come in for a tour. Attached here, please find our new Promotions Brochure. We will have these printed for incoming parents and real estate agents coming up soon, but I wanted you to be the first to see them.
  • We still have one more parent workshop this Winter Season. Please review this flyer that went home last week for details about our CRCT Parent Workshop.
  • If your child is interested in the Drama Club, please be sure they see Mr. DeHart in F112 this week. The drama club is finishing auditions and finalizing their club membership. Don't miss out on this opportunity.
  • Are you interested in joining the discussion about whether an addition will be built at Crabapple MS or Elkins Pointe MS? Click here for more details about a meeting on January 29th.

Did You Know?

Our first iPad cart has arrived. We have 30 teachers who are opting into our own pilot for iPad technology, where they will have their own iPad Mini to use every day and access to iPad carts for the students to use. We plan to deliver training within the next couple weeks and have the carts in use within the next several weeks. What an exciting moment!

Have a great holiday weekend, Titans! See you Tuesday.
