Hello, Titans!
We've had a great Red Ribbon Week here at Elkins, thanks to the hard work of our parents, especially Dawn Lorentz. Our 6th grade dance was a lot of fun and beautifully put together. Again, thank you to all of our parents who supported the dance.
Things to Celebrate:
- We are so very proud of our POP Club (Power Over Prejudice) who attended the POP Summit at GA Tech on Tuesday. They represented us well, and they learned many strategies that they will use to guide their peers through difficult discussions.
- Congratulations to Ms. Huftalin, Ms. Meekhof, Ms. Resnick, Ms. Waddle, Ms. Stiffler, Ms. Biccum, Ms. Griffin, Dr. Bearden, and Mr. Cassidy for their fundraising efforts for the Rally Foundation. They raised over $11,000 for Childhood Cancer Research!
Things to Know:
- Please remember that Monday, October 15th is a teacher workday. Enjoy your three day weekend!
- Remember that the Talent Show Try Outs are October 29th after school. Make sure that your child is getting their act together and listening to the announcements for details on how to sign up.
- Regarding online textbooks, we apologize to anyone who attempted to access broken links from last week's email. The county textbook coordinator is working to remedy the access, and we will get information to you as soon as we have it.
- Please remember that Linda Schultz will be holding her Community Board Meeting at EPMS on Tuesday, October 16th, 9:30am. We hope to see you there.
- Directly following the meeting, I will hold a brief Principal's Chat for any parents that would like to talk about the goings-on of EPMS. This meeting will begin at approximately 11:00am and will take place in Room G-103. I hope to see you there.
- Don't forget that ITBS testing is coming up for our 8th graders, October 22nd through October 26th. This is an important test for students, as it will help determine their placement in courses not just for their Freshman year of high school, but their Sophomore year as well. Make sure they get plenty of rest each night and come to school with a full tummy, ready to do their best on the test.
- Don't miss the Elkins Pointe Haunted Movie Night and Costume Contest! MORE
Finally, though I will be out of town and unable to enjoy the Youth Day Parade this week in Roswell, I hope that many of you get to the parade. It is a great opportunity to celebrate all of our students and their devotion to the community. Check out this link for more details: http://www.roswellgov.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=392.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
