Looking for published articles in the categories of Fertility Awareness (Natural Family Planning), Infertility, Pregnancy or Gynecology for the AAFCP's
Outstanding Research Paper Award. The winner of this award will be invited to present their paper to the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals in New Orleans, Louisiana, August 7-10, 2013.

Following a wonderful Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City Utah in July, the Board of Directors returned right back to work. The Fall Board Meeting was held in Harrisburg, PA in October thanks to the on-going generosity of the Diocese of Harrisburg, which has hosted the Board on several occasions. As the days grow longer and we turn our attention to family and friends, the Board of Directors would like to take this time to acknowledge and thank all of you, the Academy members who have so generously given of your time and talents to reinvigorate our Commissions and Committees. Personal Lubricants - What Professionals Should Know

In a professional effort to assist couples who are trying to achieve a pregnancy, there are many things a FertilityCare Practitioner can recommend. During the course of a follow-up session, the chart can be reviewed to be sure that the couple is making the most of their time of fertility, including P-3 through P+3. Discussion can revolve around many things including their medications, exercise routines, diet, sleep patterns, reproductive history, any stressors they may be encountering, as well as assuring the observational routine and charting are on track. Suggesting the woman start prenatal vitamins, possibly extra folic acid, that she limit caffeine and alcohol consumption, quit smoking, get enough rest and eat right are all valid and part of the responsibility of a good health educator. One point of discussion that might not surface as easily is whether or not the couple is using any personal lubricants while trying to conceive. Read more
