In The News:
The Trial of Mary Todd Lincoln
Recently, there has been a revived interest with Abraham Lincoln and his family; the surge in popularity has been greatly encouraged by the new movies and books about Lincoln that recently came out. In Chicago, the interest has been especially high. Last September there was a dramatic reenactment of the 1875 insanity trial of Mary Todd Lincoln, where her son petitioned to have her institutionalized.
The program consisted of a re-trial where actors in period clothing playing the roles of Mary Todd and Robert Todd Lincoln and modern-day judges served as lawyers on each side of the case.
Peck Bloom Managing Partner Kerry Peck is a co-chair of the Mary Todd Lincoln Mental Health Committee. He helped organize and run a mental health symposium in Springfield, IL that coordinated with the insanity re-trial of Mary Todd Lincoln that took place last September in Chicago, IL.
The Insanity Retrial of Mary Todd Lincoln recently aired on WTTW11 and can be viewed online by CLICKING HERE.
One of the new speaking engagment topics being offered by Peck Bloom, LLC, that is available for CEU credit, is "The Trial of Mary Todd Lincoln." Through the overview of her trial, Kerry Peck explains how the determination of mental capacity plays a roll in today's legal system. He also examines when it is appropriate to appoint a guardian, and explores the different types of guardianships available for individuals with diminished mental capacity.
