You know me, I have to know. What is the deal with this St. Valentine's Day hoopla? So I google it, of course.
Guess what, there are a lot of ambiguities around this holiday. First of all, it is unclear if there is even just one St. Valentine.
This love thing may have been a conspiracy.
Whether he remains a saint is even unclear. The rumor is that St. Valentine was breaking the rules, marrying off a bunch of folks under Christian law and this did not gain favor with Claudius II. Once imprisoned Ole Claude kind of liked this Valentine character. That is until Valentine tried to convert Mr. Claudius. Ole Claude had enough- "denounce your faith or off with your head".
...being a man of faith
St. Valentine was put to rest on 2/14/270
One legend says that while Valentine was awaiting execution he cured the blindness of a jailers daughter (Wikipedia had it different, I went with the catholic website story). On the night of his death he wrote a letter to that young lady signing the letter
from your Valentine.
So here we are, a couple of thousand years later.
Is love relegated to romance?
Ancient Sanskrit had 96 words for love, Greek had 4, English one.
My suggestion, broaden your horizons. Love your friends, your family, your planet, your pets, your faith and most of all, yourself.
Treat yourself
and those you love.
This I know...We have a serious crush on you!
From all of us here at Lyons Roofing...
Have a Happy Valentines Day!
