Happy Spring Holiday(s)!

Our Cubs that Care!

These are just a few "call outs" of the countless responses I receive when asked if anyone volunteers in their community.  To every one of our cubs that do these types of deeds, please know you are all appreciated.

Production Coordinator, Tiffanie Villareal, volunteers at her son's
school and is the self-proclaimed "Copy Queen".  This will also explain why she feels she is the only person in the company who can make double sided copies.

Our Inside Sales Specialist, Katherine Warwick, is also the pitch perfect volunteer for both the St. George's Children's chorus as well as the Phoenix Children's choir.  Is her support steeped in musical talent? She emphasized that her efforts are limited to spreadsheets and organizational dynamics.  We can't all hold a tune, right Katherine?  (I couldn't with a handle).

Bill Douglas is the consummate coach.  His coaching skills are evident in his approach in managing his service department team.  Bill was a Little League coach for 12 years, a Pop Warner coach for 8 years and his fondest memories were the years he coached the Challenger Little League working with special needs youth.  In his words, "It was more fun than a barrel of monkeys".  Bill has recently relocated to Phoenix from the Las Vegas area and wanted to be sure that I noted, he would welcome the opportunity to assist a coach down here.  If you would like Bill's help, give him a call.

Jeanette Murphy, our HR guru has recently relocated here from Chicago to be closer to her son.  She comes to us after working for several years with Kohls.  She shared that her efforts with the Kohl's Cares for Kids program has left a permanent impression on her life.  She spoke of her time volunteering to support the kids of the Mooseheart Village Orphanage in Illinois.  In her words- "If you ever have a chance to go to this special place and help- do it!  It was remarkable".  The experience she gained was much more valuable than the $55,000 she raised

Hello again friends,

We are celebrating both Passover and Easter this week.  Whichever you celebrate, as you take the time to prepare your hot cross buns and matzo brei know that our family at Lyons Roofing wishes you the best of the season.  We are in this together.  Did you know that the last supper was actually a passover dinner? There is poetry there.

Each month I ponder what to write about. It seems there are always some events that lend themselves to colorful dialogue.  For example, how fun would it have been to expound on the fact that tax day and the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic are both on April 15th (yes, it hit the iceberg on the 14th, but the actual sinking happened on the 15th).  Jeez, there is a lot of material in that coincidence.  So here I am April 17th 2014 resisting the urge to delve into the fact that today we are celebrating 4 lesser known holidays.  Today is "Blah, blah, blah" Day (Thank you Seinfeld), National High Five Day, Pet Owners Independence Day (???) and the holiday that speaks to me most, National Cheeseball Day.  I yam what I yam.  Then it hit me!  We, us Lyons folks, take our commitment to our community quite seriously and April 20th is National Volunteer Recognition Day.  I am therefore proud to share with you what we do individually and collectively to positively impact our world, your world.  Please know that our commitment to the community is not a "by the way" activity.  It is written in our mission statement and it is the beat to which we march.

Lyons Mission Statement:
The Lyons team sets the industry standard of excellence and is dedicated to providing peace of mind to our customers, employees and community.

For whatever it is you do to support our community, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you.  Keep doing what you do, as will we.  Together we make a difference.

Best always,

Ann Pepper

Lyons Commitment to the Community
  because giving back matters...

Every year the Lyons team focuses on several philanthropic projects.  Why? Because it connects us, brings us joy, and helps others.  It is the glue that binds us together.

In fact it was just yesterday that Lyons Roofing was honored as a finalist, along with Chase Bank, Hooters (winner), and Grand Canyon University for the Maryvale Community Service Award. I have to share what a pleasure it is to be honored amongst a group of folks so dedicated to the revitalization of our own communities.

Every year since the LaNue's have owned Lyons Roofing, as part of the GAF/Habitat for Humanity Project we don't just put a roof on a structure, we provide protection and peace of mind for a home and a family.  This commitment has translated to a keen appreciation of the same value when we work on our customer's homes, we never take that privilege for granted.

In addition to our ongoing efforts each year the Lyons employees choose a worthwhile cause to support. For the 4th quarter of every year we engage in several fund raising efforts.  I have to say, it is hard to determine who gets the greater reward, Lyons Roofing or the cause.

This past year our efforts were focused on supporting the Sojourner Center.  We were all motivated to assist their efforts in literally saving lives of battered women and families.  Despite the standard fund raising efforts such as wine auctions, football pools and bake sales...Lyons ran a lunch program for 3 months where each week an employee volunteered to essentially cater lunch for the company and sell their lunches at $5 per portion.  Yes, we raised thousands of dollars but consider the benefit we gained from "breaking bread" as an organization every week.  The value of this is far more than as measured with dollars and cents.

We urge you to get involved, its for the greater good, including your own.
