Happy Spring, CIM supporters!

We have been enjoying a slightly quieter month so far with Saint Patrick's Day behind us followed by a welcome spring term lull. We are catching up while preparing for the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend and a summer term full of fantastic Irish music programming.

Here are a few important announcements for you this April Thursday morning...

2 - CIM is hiring a part-time administrative assistant to add to our existing administrative team.  Please share the job posting with anyone you think might be a great addition.  We are accepting applications until Friday, April 10th.  Some of you may be aware that our wonderful office manager, Erika Nelson, is expecting in June. She will be taking a maternity leave throughout the summer.

IMDA EDUCATIONAL GRANT OPPORTUNITY

The Irish Music & Dance Association of the Twin Cities offers educational grants to help students of any age to pursue an interest in the traditional arts of Ireland. Grants may be used for classes, fees, travel expenses, equipment purchases or other purpose which supports the applicant's learning.

The IMDA's goal is to help students who love Irish music or dance to continue their study, move to the next level of mastery and share their interests with others. They ask grant recipients to bring their new skills back to the community by performing at an IMDA event. They hope that recipients of IMDA Educational Grants will continue their study long into the future and, in so doing, enhance the cultural life of our community. The Irish Music and
Dance Association considers the program an investment in the future.

Since its start in 2006, the program has made grants to musicians, dancers and students of the Irish (Gaelic) language. The recipients have used their grants for travel expenses, to help with the purchase an instrument, and for classes. The options are as broad as the ideas of the applicants.

For more information and to download a grant application, please visit the IMDA's website

Applications are due by April 27th, 2015

St. Patrick's Day season so memorable!
We offer our sincere thanks to all of our performing musicians and booth volunteers who helped to make both the IMDA Day of Irish Dance and St. Patrick's Day Celebrations so memorable!  Thank you, also, to those of you who so heartily applauded our performances and who came by our booth to find out more about the CIM. We appreciate you!
