Happy Holidays from all of us at
The Center for Irish Music!
Dear CIM community,
It is with a spirit of Thanksgiving that I greet you this chilly December morning! This is a dense newsletter - thank you for reading through to the end.
1. Thank you for showing your support for the CIM during the Fall drive. Individuals and small businesses came together to raise over $13,000 for the CIM! It takes a large community to keep an Irish music school thriving, and we would not be here if it weren't for your support.
2. Join us for the Fall Recitals and potluck celebrations this Sunday, December 7th. Students, please plan on arriving 30 minutes before your recital time to find a seat, settle in, and tune instruments. Bring a potluck item to share!
1:00pm-2:00pm, December 7th - Youth recital 1
For young soloists and childrens' classes including the Beginner Ensemble, Starling Ensemble, Budding Bodhráns, Sprouting Songsters, both Tin Whistle Troupe classes and Irish Gaelic Songs for Young Singers.
2:30pm-4:00pm, December 7th - Youth recital 2

For all adult students including the Young Adult Ensemble (who will be on first)
3. Celtic Music Showcase featuring young CIM musicians at Underground Music Cafe - Dec. 11, 7-8:30pm
Community member and musician, Paul Garding, has invited youth CIM students to be this month's featured artists for his Celtic Music Showcase.

Traditional Irish Instruments Coloring Book
available!
|
Artist Marty Ochs and CIM Executive Director Norah Rendell have created this artful coloring book for you! Bring these images to life with your own imagination and artistry, and learn more about 16 of the most commonly-played instruments in traditional Irish music. Great care has been taken to make the details of the illustrations realistic: numbers of keys, buttons, strings, tuning pegs, finger holes and more.
Thank you for supporting the Center for Irish Music with the purchase of this coloring book!
Coloring book will be available for purchase at this weekend's recitals for $10.00. After that, you can contact Erika in the CIM office to purchase.

CIM Gatherings at Local Sessions
|
 |
CIM community members gather at Keegan's
|
We have held impromptu CIM gatherings at local sessions over the years. This fall, Emily and Norah thought it would be fun to send an open the invitation to all of our students and supporters to join us on specific dates. These gatherings are a way to build our community while encouraging participation in and/or learning from the Twin Cities' wonderful local sessions.
These gatherings are a great opportunity to get to know other active members of the Irish community while deepening friendships with your fellow CIM students, instructors and local Irish musicians. We hope to see you soon!
Of course, you can enjoy the local sessions any week. Information about local sessions is on the local sessions page of the CIM website, under the music resources tab.
