CIM Students to Travel
to the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil
|
The Midwest Fleadh Cheoil (pronounced 'flah') is the regional traditional Irish music competition put on annually by the international Irish music organization called Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. This year is the second year that the fleadh will be hosted by St. Louis Irish Arts in St. Louis, Missouri. Our Advanced Youth Ensemble and many other students will be traveling to St. Louis to compete in solo, duet, trio, grupai cheoil, or ceili band categories. Competition itself is not the main focus of our participation in the fleadh! The camaraderie and process of reaching individual and collective musical goals is what CIM is aiming for in encouraging its students to be involved this year.
Stay tuned for updates, stories, and photos from the fleadh in next month's newsletter and on our Facebook page.

The phrase "something for everyone" aptly describes the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend. The event offers programming in three distinct tracks: children, teen, and adult. Learners of all ages, musicians, singers, dancers and music appreciators will find something of interest in the wide range of workshops, lectures, sessions and concerts that span the weekend.
