Heatherlea-Farm-Shoppe

Stress-free entertaining courtesy of Heatherlea Farm Shoppe

This summer, be the host with the most and actually enjoy yourself!

It's summer time - a time to relax and enjoy but with hectic summer schedules it turns into anything but relaxing. There is nothing fun about getting caught in the kitchen instead of joining in the laughs and fun of the crowd outside on the patio.

A fabulous party doesn't demand anything elaborate - just great food, good company, and the beautiful outdoors! Here are some of Heatherlea's tips for stress-free summer entertaining:

  • Keep it simple: a great meal just takes a few fresh salads paired with deliciously-barbecued meats. If guests offer to bring something, have them bring a side salad or appetizer to ease your to-do list. If you need a little help we have family-sized fresh salads that can be ordered in advance.Want even easier? We do catering!

  • Prep ahead: prepare foods in advance so you can enjoy your guests'
company. Meats and kebabs can be prepped and marinated well in advance in a ziplock bag. Cold salads are great because they can be made days in advance. Green salads can be made the day of and dressed just before serving.
  • Don't forget dessert! A mouth-watering fruit pie is a safe bet that won't melt on a hot day! And don't forget about Ontario fresh fruit!
  • Impromptu party? Keep the freezer stocked with burgers that can be grilled from frozen. Steaks and sausages can thaw quickly when placed in cool water that is changed frequently.

Happy entertaining!

Be sure to try our signature dish for the Pan Am Taste Trail!
