Brushing It In the Rough: Women, Art & Nineteenth-century Canada

This exhibition examines how three 19th-century women artists addressed and articulated their own Canadian experiences. The works of artists Anna Jameson, Susanna Moodie, and Alice Killaly are augmented by those of Ruth Abernethy, a contemporary artist interpreting the role of women in Canada's 19th-century settler society. ROM Research

They may not look like much but these space rocks sure have a story to tell.

ROM research on meteorite solves age-old Martian puzzle

 

In a major discovery released in the scientific journal Nature, ROM Curator Dr. Kim Tait and colleagues have solved an age-old riddle in the geologic history of Mars. It was found that a Martian meteorite from the ROM's collection started as a 200-million-year-old lava flow.

 

This indicates that at least some of the Martian surface is young - by geologic standards - and provides a clearer picture of the evolution of the Red Planet. More information
