Dance: Behind the Mask

Choreographer and Artistic Director Peter Chin joins with celebrated dancer Chy Ratana from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to create a dance work exploring the multiple layers that both hide and reveal the soul - whether a traditional dance mask, or the glass between a viewer and the photo of the portrayed. Chy Ratana's appearance is presented in association with Amrita Performing Arts Cambodia.

From November 1 to 8, thousands of people across the GTA and beyond will participate in educational, cultural and community programs during the annual Holocaust Education Week (HEW). One of the largest Holocaust educational forums of its kind, Holocaust Education Week features leading international voices in Holocaust history, pedagogy and cultural awareness.
Culture of Memory is the theme for 2012, and the ROM will host various activities through the week. |

About Observance and Memorial
From 1975-1979, Cambodia endured one of the worst atrocities of the 20th century under the rule of the Khmer Rouge. 103 photographic prints developed from original negatives abandoned at the S-21 prison in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, reveal this shocking and little-understood story. More information

This exhibit focuses on the ROM's small but varied collection of arts from the modern states of Cambodia and Thailand that reflect a marriage of spirituality and utilitarianism. |
