Women_s Fund Fall Gathering
Thank you to Women's Fund donors; your gifts directly support the programs and services of organizations addressing the critical needs of women in our community.

Last week, the Women's Fund Advisory Committee hosted a Fall Gathering on the "Issues and Experiences: Women and Poverty" with Jen Jensen from CaRDI (Community and Regional Development Institute) presenting local and state demographic data. A panel discussion with service providers and those with lived experience revealed sobering statistics, funding concerns, and gaps in services.

Thank you to our corporate sponsors of our 15th anniversary gala
It is with your generous help that we celebrated our achievements and honored our donors, who have contributed more than $18.5 million since 2000, enabling over 2,200 grants totaling more than $8 million to support the quality of life in Tompkins County.

Technology update at Unity House
Unity House
A Letter of Inquiry from Unity House in the fall of 2014 resulted in a grant, which supported the purchase of two desktop computers and two tablet computers supporting services in Tompkins County.

Unity House of Cayuga County provides transitional and permanent housing, respite care, and rehabilitative and employment services for individuals with mental health illnesses, developmental disabilities, and/or chemical dependencies, from which they are recovering. Unity House partners with people to develop their personal skills and potential, enabling them to live more full and independent lives.

This technology upgrade addresses capacity building which is a focus of Unity House's strategic plan. This support helps ensure that Unity House has the "right people, skills, space, and technology to implement key organizational programmatic functions".  Support for this technology came from the Community Enrichment Fund and the Tompkins Today and Tomorrow Fund.

Raising the next generation of givers
Ami Nashon, Philanthropy News Digest
In my experience, accumulated over the course of a professional career working with and observing philanthropy and philanthropists, I believe there is a strong argument to be made for multi-generational philanthropy based on the notion that wealth accumulated over multiple generations or through the extraordinary success of one generation ideally should be used to build social capital with long-term, recurring benefits...
