July 9, 2016 - The Prick 5K - Trail Run

Formerly The Finger Prickin' Good 5k, this event is now in its third year and continues to be a part of the success of the March 2 November Race Series.

Formed specifically as the first 5k trail run in Watertown, it's race director, Bob Mudler, is a former Watertown High School and collegiate cross country runner and his love for a true cross country course is evident in the organization of the race. Boasting a beautiful replica breitling 5k run/walk and open 1k (for anyone that prefers a shorter challenge or simply wants to be a part of the festivities) through Watertown's Brandt-Quirk park, the trail course has notable elevation changes but is not technically difficult to run or walk.

The Prick 5k does more than provide an outlet for those who want to challenge themselves on a cross-country route, however; it benefits two of Bob's favorite causes: the Watertown High School Cross-Country Team and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF).

The cost to participate in the 5k is $30.00 and the 1k open is free, with a monetary donation appreciated and given the day of. The Prick 5k is delighted to be a part of the M2N Race Series and all the added benefits the organization has to offer.

Packet pick-up: 12pm-6pm Fri, July 8 in The Harvest Restaurant at the Watertown Regional Medical Center from 11:30am - 6pm or after 7am the day of the race.

July 23-24, 2016 - Farmer and Chef Tour

Farmers and chefs. Both are driven by passion and both love working with food in its different, purest forms and both work long, tireless hours. They find themselves inspired by or at the mercy of the season, and work hard to create amazing food in each season's glory, and even if done right may still find themselves broke. The work is grueling, but it's real and it's honest. Locally grown food makes people genuinely happy and keeps them  very healthy, and that is something you can't put a price on.

We invite you all, whether you live in the city or the country, to our first-ever Farmer and Chef Tour in Jefferson County - three small farms who grow their food the old-fashioned way - a veggie farm near Lake Mills, an organic dairy farm near Jefferson, and a beef and chicken farm near Waterloo. See and hear the story of our food and bring the kids because they need to know too. Our farmers and chefs are here to show you how it's done!

We've got a story to tell.  The story of your food. Tour three small farms in Jefferson County.  Sign up for our Farm and Chef Workshops and our Feast in the Field on Sunday night.

Workshops include:
  • Healing Herbs, Soil and Composting
  • Chicken and Beekeeping
  • Chef Cooking Classes
  • Chicken Butchering Demo
  • and More!
Bring your kids and see how they can be a Farmer for a Day.  Re-connect with your food!

Multiple Locations:
  • Christensen Organic Dairy Farm - 2290 State Hwy. 106, Jefferson, WI
  • Earth Fresh Acres - 2976 Hwy. Q, Aztalan, WI (near Lake Mills)
  • BeefnBeaks Farm - N8248 Hwy. O, Waterloo, WI
Throughout the day:
