2014 Pineapple Award

Hospitality Award logo Have you ever had an exemplary customer service experience in Jefferson County? Has someone gone above and beyond to help you? The Jefferson County Tourism Council (JCTC) bets you have had many such experiences and they want to hear about them.

Reward your great service experience by nominating that person for the 4th annual JCTC Golden Pineapple Award. Nominees should work or volunteer for a Jefferson County business or organization.

"We are looking for a person who makes your day better, who does the unexpected. These front line people are the face of Jefferson County and help to make us a destination. And we don't think they get enough credit, that's why this award was created," said JCTC Board President Leigh Price.

We will be presenting our Golden Pineapple Award to one of the nominated individuals at an awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 15.

The pineapple, especially in Colonial times, was felt to represent a sense of welcome, good cheer, and human warmth. We believe it is the perfect symbol for this award. The top nominees will be honored at a dinner on October 15, 2014, with the winner receiving a cash award. Last year's winner was Michael Cobleigh of Sentry Foods in Fort Atkinson.

NOMINATION DEADLINE: September 15, 2014.

Please check our website for additional information - http://enjoyjeffersoncounty.com/golden-pineapple-award/

September 13, 2014 - Paint the Town

Help celebrate the annual Paint the Town event, hosted by the Lake Mills Main Street Program and the Arts Alliance of Greater Lake Mills.

Silent auction items include something to get everyone excited! Due to the generosity of several of the artists who attended the recent Lake Mills Arts Festival, there are over a dozen great art pieces to add to the auction this year. All of the popular annual raffles - the Wall of Wine from Lewis Station Winery, and the Wall of Beer from Tyranena Brewing Company - are back again, and this year's "themed" raffle - "Happy Hour" - will showcase a wonderful spectrum of "things that make us happy" (not necessarily a tavern's version of "happy hour" - but some of them might be!). As always, raffle tickets are available at the Legion on the evening of the event - in $10 and $20 quantities - and the raffle winners will be announced about 9:45pm that evening.

The 2014 Live Auction items include the following: A 6-course dinner, paired with wine, for 8 guests in a local private home; a hand-crafted coffee table, a one-of-a-kind vase created by Ephraim Faience Pottery, and a December Holiday Cocktail Party for 12 at the Fargo Mansion Inn.

The 2014 Open House portion of the evening will run from 5:30-8pm and will feature these new and/or newly renovated businesses: Sound Haven Learning Center, Calamity Janes, Sanft Accounting & Tax, Caf on the Park (if they are able to reopen by that date), and our newest downtown business in the old Oral Health Building - Lapis&Moss.

The main event begins at 7:30pm at the American Legion Hall, 129 South Main Street. Appetizers and a cash bar will be available all evening long. The raffle winner announcements and the Live Auction will begin about 9:45pm.

This year, the theme is the 80's, and we encourage attendees to dress in their finest 80's threads, although you can still have a great time that evening if you choose not to travel back in time for your wardrobe! Tunes from the 80's will be spun from DJ Hal and DJ Little Ray along with their Magic Mirror Ball. Tickets are $25, and can be purchased online at www.PainttheTownLakeMills.com or at the Legion on the evening of the event.
