Our Fish Fry Review Crew visited The Edgewater Supper Club after hearing some great things about the food and new owners from other happy customers.

We were not disappointed!

Our meal started off with good rye bread from BonTon Bakery in Jefferson, followed by a round of the Edgewater Clam Chowder. Oh my! The chowder was so good - so creamy - so buttery... In fact, one of our Review Crew members called in an order for a HALF GALLON of said Clam Chowder to be picked up the following week. Yes, it was that good...

The fish options on the night we arrived (each Friday might have slightly different specials) included Fried Jumbo Perch, Baked or Fried Cod, and Salmon with Roasted Pecan Butter. Our group was small that night - just three - and two of us ate the perch (yes, it was truly "jumbo!"), while the third reviewer ordered the salmon.

The perch was delicious - flaky and tender - but it was the salmon and accompanying roasted pecan butter that stole the show. The reviewer who ordered this dish declared it to be the "...best salmon I've ever eaten!" as well as "My favorite dinner of our fish fries to date!"

Now THAT'S a resounding recommendation!

The Edgewater Supper Club prepares meals with local ingredients, and many local talents - such as BonTon Bakery and Morsels by Marly - contribute to the menu. Although the Edgewater did not have any pies from Morsels by Marly that evening, we will be back to get our selection soon!

The Edgewater Supper Club reopened in 2013, thanks to Bill and Vicki Millis from Under the Oaks farm in Milton. The restaurant is located on the Rock River between Fort Atkinson and Jefferson on Highway K.

Until we meet again,

Your Fish Dish Review Crew

July 14, 2014 - Fort Atkinson Community Band Concert

Join us for an outdoor band concert at 7:30pm with an ice cream social at 6:30pm (it also continues through the concert).

The Fort Atkinson Community Band is a volunteer group of about 45 musicians, made up of adults, along with some high school and college students. We rehearse on a weekly basis from March to August each year. Continuously active since 1960, our band has provided playing opportunities for the residents of Fort Atkinson and area for over five decades.

In addition to providing playing opportunities we also regularly put on public concerts. In 2014, we will be performing in five outdoor concerts at our band shell in Barrie Park. Other community event performances will be announced through out the year.

Our goal is to provide playing opportunities for amateur band musicians after they have played in high school, college, and/or the service. We also provide quality entertainment to the community, through both indoor and outdoor concerts.

In the case of inclement weather, the social and concert will move across the street to Trinity Lutheran Church.

July 15-20, 2014 - Muskie Love

If Shakespeare had been born in modern-day Green Bay, he might have written Muskie Love, a whopper of a musical loosely based on Much Ado About Nothing.

This fish slapping tale tells of two rival fishing guides, Ben and Bea, both happily single. Despite their sworn hatred, our couple finds themselves bizarrely drawn to each other. Throw in the DNR, the ever-present Wisconsin obsession with the Packers, a few jokes, and a delightful blend of songs - and you've got Muskie Love.

July 24 - August 31, 2014 - Smokey Joe's Cafe

This critically acclaimed musical revue is a joyful celebration of the music of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. You may not know the names but we guarantee you know their music. Leiber and Stoller, as much as anyone, virtually invented rock 'n' roll. SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE features nearly 40 of the greatest songs ever recorded, including Jailhouse Rock, Stand By Me and Fools Fall in Love. Performed live by a cast of some of the country's best young performers! The original production ran on Broadway for five years and The Fireside's exciting new staging of this smash hit musical is sure to bring crowds to their feet once again!

July 24-26, 2014 - The Wizard of Oz - presented by FACT

This musical adventure is a family classic that tells the story of Dorthy Gale, a young girl unhappy with life on her aunt and uncle's Kansas farm. Dorothy yearns to travel "over the rainbow" to a different world, and she gets her wish when a tornado whisks her and her little dog, Toto, to the land of Oz. Having offended the Wicked Witch of the West, Dorothy is protected from the old crone's wrath by the ruby slippers that she wears. At the suggestion of Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, Dorothy heads down the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City, where dwells the all-powerful Wizard of Oz, who might be able to help the girl return to Kansas. Along the way, she befriends a Scarecrow, a Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion. They all join Dorothy on her odyssey to the Emerald City.

Formerly based out of the Miracle Theatre in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Triumphant Quartet has been touring full time since 2008. They are humbled by the support of their fans and celebrate the combination of talent, commitment and unwavering faith that keeps them together and keeps their focus on the ministry.
