Jefferson County Fish Dish Review Crew

Crawfish Junction

Fish Fry

Crawfish Junction in Milford

When?             February 2013

Classification?    "Popular Location for Music and Food"

Crawfish Junction takes its name from the river running through town - the Crawfish River. On Fridays, Crawfish Junction doesn't just SERVE a fish fry - they OWN the fish fry.

Copious seating, incredibly high ceilings, and a friendly staff greeted us just a few Fridays ago. Our seats were the high bar type. We would have preferred a lower table, but we were starved, and didn't want to wait. Thankfully, the "taller accommodations" were available not long after we arrived.

The Friday menu is deeper than the Crawfish River herself. Fried or baked cod, grilled salmon (herb butter or Asian sesame), Canadian walleye (fried, pan-fried or blackened), blue gill, Lake Erie perch ("fresh, never frozen!"), jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, lobster, ALLIGATOR, and, true to its namesake, CRAWFISH TAILS round out the Friday offerings.

All entrees are served with a choice of potato - the sweet potato fries are a standout, crisp on the outside, rich and smooth on the inside - creamy coleslaw and rye bread.

Can't decide? Mix-n-match any 2 items for a few dollars more!

On our recent visit, we sampled the cod, salmon, perch and the huge walleye filet. We had to try the alligator, so we ordered the appetizer, which was served with a "zippy gator sauce." It was tender and delicious. And how could we pass up the deep fried bacon appetizer?? ("Five large sinful strips of applewood smoked bacon, breaded and deep-fried, served with pancake syrup for dipping.") Indescribable!!

The service was great, the beer was cold, and the food was outstanding at Milford's Crawfish Junction! Just off I-94 and Hwy 89, five miles north of Lake Mills on Highway A, Crawfish Junction is the place to be on a Friday night or, for that matter, any time you are hungry!

2013 Jefferson County Hospitality Awards

pineapple-banner-300x150 Have you ever had an exemplary customer service experience in Jefferson County? Has someone gone above and beyond to help you? The Jefferson County Tourism Council (JCTC) bets you have had many such experiences and they want to hear about them.

Reward your great service experience by nominating that person for the 3rd annual JCTC Golden Pineapple Award. Nominees should work or volunteer for a Jefferson County business or organization.

"We are looking for a person who makes your day better, who does the unexpected. These front line people are the face of Jefferson County and help to make us a destination. And we don't think they get enough credit, that's why this award was created," said JCTC Board President Steve Cline.

We will be presenting our Golden Pineapple Award to one of the nominated individuals at an awards ceremony in March of 2013 at a local restaurant (to be announced). The pineapple, especially in Colonial times, was felt to represent a sense of welcome, good cheer, and human warmth. We believe it is the perfect symbol for this award. The top nominees will be honored at a dinner with the winner receiving a cash award. Last year's winner was Teri Macejkovic at the B.E. Hive Hair Salon in Jefferson. DEADLINE TO NOMINATE SOMEONE IS APRIL 1, 2013.

Through April 14, 2013 - Footloose

When Chicago teenager Ren McCormack moves to the small town of Footloose Bomont he is shocked to find a gloomy place where dancing has been outlawed by the city fathers. He sets out to change the law and the minds of the town council and bring laughter and fun back to the town. His journey is the basis for one of the most exciting, vibrant, and entertaining musicals you'll ever see. First a popular film and then a fabulous Broadway show, FOOTLOOSE is filled with high energy singing, heart-pounding rhythms, and ultimately some of Broadway's most spectacular dancing. It is a show that will bring generations together and bring audiences to their feet in a dazzling production featuring such hit songs as "Let's Hear it For the Boy," "I Need a Hero" and the well known title song. You won't be able to contain your joy after you've seen FOOTLOOSE.
