OG Sack
og sack
OG Sacks are custom made lifestyle bags with washable liners. The "OG" in the name stands for Original Green, which is the principal element in all of the designs. Reducing your carbon footprint shouldn't entail carrying a poorly made tote bag. They are custom-made in Colorado and designed with the following in mind:

Bags get dirty - all OG Sacks have a removable/machine-washable liner

Designed to be tough and durable by utilizing the same materials used in mountaineering bags.

One Bag, One Tree Planted:
For each bag purchased, one tree will be planted in the Brazilian rainforest.

Philanthropy. It is not word that is used often in the same sentence with a Health Club. Which is strange, really. It would seem sensible that an industry built on the idea of health, wellness and better living would embrace the very essence of what it is to be human by caring for, nurturing and giving back.

Philanthropy is a very big part of what we do at Pura Vida. It is in our DNA and we have built our ideology around it.

The club will be hosting our annual Pur-a-thlon for Brent's Place on Friday, May 10th. I was very fortunate to get a tour of Brent's Place with my management team yesterday. Tucked away on a side street in Aurora sits a housing complex, built from the ground up, that houses 23 families who are going through medical intervention for their children who have been diagnosed with cancer. These families come from great distances for treatment at Children's Hospital. What many of us don't think about is where these families will stay while their child is going through many months of treatment. The cost of a hotel makes it impossible. The hospital does not have options.

This is where Brent's Place comes in by providing families full-size apartments during this very difficult time. On the tour yesterday the only apartment that was vacant and available to see was Apartment 102. The night before our visit a 7-year-old child had passed away. Jonathan. The apartment had not yet been prepared for the next family. Entering a space that has experienced tragedy moves you in many ways. To see toys left behind by the family that most certainly fled in deep grief and sadness was powerful. To know that Brent's Place sheltered Jonathan and his family and provided love and support through this difficult journey must have brought the family a small bit of solace that they were able to spend time together in their own space.

The cost to house and feed a family is $93 per day. I ask that you help us raise money for this very important organization by getting involved, buying a class, or simply donating to Brent's Place. The cost of our VIP registration is $93 and includes up to two classes, a soon-to-be coveted VIP bag and access to our VIP lounge throughout the day. We raised $30,000 at last year's event and we hope to raise $50,000 this year. That's 550 nights at Brent's Place. Nights that are so important to families and their sick children.

Looking forward to seeing you at the club on Friday, May 10th.

4TH ANNUAL PUR-A-THLON
FRIDAY, MAY 10TH  6am - 6pm

Pur-a-thlon We are extremely excited to host our 4th Annual Pur-a-thlon to benefit Brent's Place, a local "home away from home" for children and their families while the child undergoes cancer treatment at Children's Hospital.

Brent's Place was founded by The Brent Eley Foundation in 1997 by Linda and Donn Eley as a tribute to their son, Brent, who was 13 when he was diagnosed in 1987 with Rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive and rare cancer. Brent needed treatment that at the time was not available in Denver where they resided, so they needed to travel to Iowa city for the appropriate care. Luckily they were able to find newly renovated student housing while Brent received treatment. Soon after Brent's treatment he suffered a viral infection that ultimately left his parents to return to Denver alone. When Donn and Linda returned without their son, they were determined to do something to honor Brent's memory.

The Eleys spent the next nine years raising funds in support of pediatric cancer programs and opened up the first Brent's Place facility in 1998, one block away from Children's Hospital. Brent's Place is a specialized hospitality house that fills the critical need for individualized support programs and innovative living accommodations suitable for immune compromised pediatric patients and their families. In 2009, Brent's Place was able to upgrade and expand opening up a new state of the art facility equipped with sixteen apartments, social and activity spaces, a meeting room, commercial kitchen, library, exercise room and an outdoor play space designed specifically for immune-compromised children. The Brent Eley foundation is focused on maximizing the use of Brent's Place facilities and growing support programs to lessen the burden families face as their child recovers from life-threatening disease.

brent's place These children are highly susceptible to germs and require a "safe-clean" environment, free of dust, dirt, mold and other airborne toxins. Each apartment at Brent's Place is a self-contained living space, appropriately isolated from other people but suitable for the entire family with the availability to accommodate up to five people in each apartment. The cost to host a family per day is $93. But through generous donations and continued fundraising, Brent's Place accommodations is offered to the families free of charge.

Families with an immune compromised child are often separated and isolated from family and friends due to the environment they must maintain for their child's recovery and safety. In response to this change in lifestyle, Brent's Place offers support programs to meet the complex needs of the whole family. They provide daily healthy and homemade meals, community outings and activities for families, "healthy" siblings outings, resource library, and emotional and psychological support.

Support a family at Brent's Place for a day, and participate in a unique fitness event dedicated to this special organization.
