One of the first signs of spring for me is the appearance of a crocus. When you think about it, the crocus is truly a mighty force. It originates from a bulb so small that it can be planted in the ground in a hole no larger than one created by a child's pudgy, little finger being poked into the Earth. Each spring, that diminutive bulb pushes forth its foliage into the world, through frozen ground and hardened snow. Despite its harsh surroundings, the bulb soon produces an eruption of fragile, yet vibrant, clusters of purple, yellow, and white blooms. Whenever you feel like you're facing obstacles bigger than yourself, remind yourself of the crocus...the little flower that could. of crocus and other flowers blooming...a lovely reminder of the wonderful things to come.
