DID YOU KNOW... One popular nutcracker origin myth purports that a wealthy German farmer, who found the process of cracking nuts to be detrimental to his productivity, offered a reward to whoever could come up with the best solution to his dilemma. Each villager drew on his/her own professional expertise hoping to win the prize...a carpenter declared sawing them open was the best solution while a huntsman thought shooting them with a small pistol would work better. However, it was a meek puppet maker who won the reward, building a strong-jawed, lever-mouthed doll. Perhaps it is the puppet maker's good fortune that ignited the belief that having a nutcracker among your possessions is considered good luck.

Meet Donna Leutzinger (below, left) and Martha Nordquist (below, right), two amazing ladies who play an integral role at The Village Shoppes during the Christmas season.   Donna designs inspiring silk arrange- ments, Marty creates breathtaking vignettes, and they both deliver outstanding customer service. Since we begin preparing for our Christmas season in August, it's safe to say these ladies are here ALOT! The Village Shoppes' family wouldn't be complete without them!
