November 2013

Like me, I'm sure you go to many networking and fundraising events throughout the year. I recently went to the phenomenal Legislative Gala held by the BCC Chamber, where political figures mixed with business folks while enjoying a "Taste of Bethesda." The only downside? When people got up to speak, no one wanted to listen.

That's why I'm thrilled when I get to create videos to screen at events. It's a way for the entire room to come together, be quiet, and really hear your message. A video has the power to do that - to make people stop and listen.
One challenge many organizations have is how to make a yearly event video feel new and fresh, especially when many audience members are "repeat customers." For this year's RESOLVE gala video, we decided to focus on all they had accomplished in 2013. Along with personal member stories, strong testimony by their founder, and fun new graphics, the video helped RESOLVE surpass their fundraising goal at this year's gala.

For next year's Legislative Gala, the Chamber has already started thinking about creating a video instead of having speakers. I couldn't agree more.

I do hope, however, that the speakers at your Thanksgiving table next week don't need a video for you to hear them, and that you enjoy every minute!

Sincerely,

  Debbie
