Chapter 99 Founding Father Tom Bryant Passes Away
We regret to inform you that we have lost one of Chapter 99's founding members, Tom Bryant, who passed away on June 9 in Redding. Tom established Bryant Automotive in 1968 and the family business is still operating today. Tom loved to race at Bonneville and was part of the 200 mph club, driving 217.236 mph with the Pierson Coupe. He was also a member of the East Redding Rotary Club. Many had him as a teacher and he will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life was held on June 20.

The ASCCA is pleased to call for nominations for the 7 seats open for the 2016 Board of Directors. Participation on the ASCCA Board of Directors is a unique opportunity for automotive repair professionals to help guide the state's largest organization of independent auto shop owners in shaping the future of the industry and building a stronger industry. Board participation is a chance to grow personally and professionally, and to develop skills, experience and connections with a team of other passionate and motivated professionals. Applications are due July 1 and can be obtained via the link below.

Jack Molodanof: The Do's and Don'ts of Advertising
ASCCA's own Jack Molodanof was interviewed a few months ago by Autobody News about the do's and don'ts of body shop advertising. It applies to independent auto shops as well. He cautions that unlawful advertising -- even if you didn't know the information in your ad was misleading -- can get repair shops into big trouble.

AAA Study on Annual Cost to Own and Operate a Vehicle Finds Cost Declining to $8,698

Due primarily to declines in gas prices and finance charges, the annual cost to own and operate a vehicle has fallen to $8,698, a nearly 2 percent drop from last year, according to AAA's 2015 Your Driving Costs study.
