Collision Panel Named for NASTF at Northeast 2015 Meeting

Five panelists and a discussion moderator have been named for the featured presentation in the March 19 NASTF Spring 2015 General Meeting in Secaucus, NJ. Teresa Bolton (ASE) will moderate a discussion of the topic, "Validation of Collision Repair Workmanship: What should OEMs consider? What do shops hope to avoid?"

 


EMV Initiative Will Impact Your Credit Card Processing
Shannon Devery and David Cherney from Digital Financial Group (DFG) want to alert ASCCA members that the European Mastercard Visa (EMV) Initiative, taking effect in October 2015, raises the liability risk for shop owners who don't get an EMV capable terminal. EMV is a more secure type of credit card. It is not mandatory to use it, but DFG recommends you upgrade your equipment.

The ASCCA has established a fund to enhance our advocacy with the state legislature (e.g., legislative advocate's travel, ASCCA's annual legislative day lobbying, Government Affairs Committee initiatives).

ASCCA Rolls Out Summer Conference Raffle! Chapters Should Order Tickets Now

The Summer Conference raffle is back! This year the prize is a 4-channel 4425 PicoScope ADVANCED Diagnostic Kit worth $3,127 and provided by AESWave. Tickets are only $25. We have brought back the chapter revenue share program, so for each ticket sold, your chapter gets to keep $5! There is not a discount on bulk tickets bought due to the revenue share. There's a form Rachel needs filled out from each chapter. Fill it out and email back to her. She will then send you your tickets.  All tickets must be sold or returned by June 1.

 


NorCal Leads 47-29 in ASCCA Countertop Display Contest

ASCCA's countertop display contest is well underway, with 8 SoCal and 14 NorCal shops participating as of Friday, Feb. 13 at 5 PM. The "North is going to look foolish when we are done," said Rocky Khamenian of SoCal. "Look at a compass. Which direction is up? NORTH, NORTH, NORTH," responded Tracee Renee of NorCal. Did You Read the Chapter Representatives Committee Meeting Report?
On Tuesday, Rocky Khamenian, as chair of the committee, sent out his summary of the recent Chapter Representatives Committee meeting at Team Weekend. Did you read it? ASCCA gets a lot of work done at our meetings and so here's the report again in case you missed it. "If there is anything that I can do to improve chapter-to-state relationships please do not hesitate to ask," says Rocky. "We missed you if you were not at the meeting and can't wait to shake your hand at the next Team Weekend."


ASA Introduces New EPA-Approved Section 609 Training and Certification Program

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) on Feb. 11 announced its 2015 version of the Refrigerant Recovery & Recycling Review and Quiz Program. The new ASE Section 609 program has been completely updated to meet new EPA requirementsThe new program can be taken online at www.asecampus.com.

ASCCA's Member of the Month for February: Darren Gilbert
Darren Gilbert of Gilbert Motor Service in Alhambra is ASCCA's Member of the Month for February 2015. He is very active in Chapter 5 and currently serves as chapter president. Darren has brought in several new ASCCA members and promotes our association every chance he gets. He lobbies for ASCCA members at our annual legislative days and attends all summer conferences. Darren also sets up classes for members and is always willing to help others. Congratulations, Darren!
