ASCCA's Member of the Month for February: Darren Gilbert
Darren Gilbert of Gilbert Motor Service in Alhambra is ASCCA's Member of the Month for February 2015. He is very active in Chapter 5 and currently serves as chapter president. Darren has brought in several new ASCCA members and promotes our association every chance he gets. He lobbies for ASCCA members at our annual legislative days and attends all summer conferences. Darren also sets up classes for members and is always willing to help others. Congratulations, Darren!

Thanks to Postal Delivery Schedules, NorCal Takes Early Lead in Countertop Display Contest, 26-0

The ASCCA's countertop display contest has gotten underway with the first entries received the week of January 26-30, all of them from 8 Northern California shops. Presumably NorCal shops got the displays in the mail earlier than SoCal shops because they were closer to the shipping point of Sacramento. Entries are posted on Facebook and that's where all fun and trash talking is going on. Join in!

Electric Vehicle Driving Along the West Coast Gets a Boost

Fast-charging EV networks are in the works along the West Coast thanks to a joint effort by BMW and VW. The two German automakers will construct about 100 charging stations in "express charging corridors" from San Diego to Portland. By the end of this year, an electric vehicle driver could go from San Diego to Portland using the vehicle charging network.

BMW Declines the Request to Share Connected Car Data to Third Parties
BMW is declining to share connected car data with U.S. technology companies and advertisers. The standards on privacy in Europe are stricter than in the U.S. regarding connected car data sharing. At issue is how much consumers care about privacy concerns.
