Our goal is to get the ASCCA name out in front of the public and let them know ASCCA shops have a high level of trust for their auto repairs! Notice of Statewide OBD Inspection System (OIS) Implementation 3/9/15

The BAR has issued a notice that, as of March 9, 2015, smog check stations must use an OBD Inspection System to test 2000 and newer model-year gasoline-powered vehicles, 1998 and newer diesel-powered vehicles, and all hybrid vehicles. There are other requirement too, so read on.

ASCCA's Member of the Month for January: David Kusa
 David Kusa of AutoTrend Diagnostics in Campbell is ASCCA's Member of the Month. He is very active in Chapter 42 and currently serves as a board member and chapter representative. Dave has helped several new shops become ASCCA members. Dave advocates with local legislators on behalf of small businesses and their employees. He contributes to TeamTalk and is a huge resources for members.

In early days of the automobile, it was drivers' duty to avoid pedestrians, not pedestrians' duty to avoid cars. But as cars became more common, streets became a place for cars and suddenly it was a pedestrian's fault if he or she got hit by a car. Thus was invented the crime of jaywalking.

2015 NASTF Board Welcomes 3 New Volunteers
 Among those recently re-elected to the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) board of directors for a 3-year term was Allen Pennebaker, owner of Orinda Motors. Pennebaker represents the Automotive Service Councils of California in the NASTF category for an independent service provider. Two other current volunteers were re-elected and two new members were elected. Read the NASTF press release

Average Fuel Economy Slated to be 54.5 mpg by 2025 -- Is that Asking too Much?

At a Detroit auto event, the CEO of Fiat Chrysler wondered if the U.S. government requirement for an average fuel economy of 54.5 mpg by 2025 was a reasonable time frame. The goal can be achieved, but at what price? Consumer demand for hybrid and electric cars is falling and automakers offer diesel engines and a high-speed transmission to boost fuel economy.
