ASCCA Representatives Among those Meeting with CARB to Discuss Telematics and Access to Information
Representatives from ASCCA, the California Automotive Wholesalers' Association (CAWA), the California Autobody Association (CAA) and the California Automotive Business Coalition (CalABC) recently met with the top two staff of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to discuss industry concerns. They came away agreeing to continue discussing the issues of telematics and access to information.

Aftermarket Business Leaders Seem to be More Confident in their Economic Outlook, Auto Care Association Reports
According to the Auto Care Association and Northwood University in Michigan, aftermarket business leaders have a more confident outlook on the economy, compared to previous months. The two organizations conduct a monthly survey which projects the outlook over the next 12 months.


Zero-Emissions School Bus Created that Uses Solar Panels

As shared by ASCCA member Tracy Renee on ASCCA's TeamTalk, a Gilroy Unified School District project has created the first-of-its-kind zero-emissions school bus. A team of companies, including the Silicon Valley Clean Cities coalition, converted a diesel school bus to electric power.  PBS will air a TV segment about it.

ASCCA Member of the Month - December 2014

The ASCCA's member of the month for December is John Eppstein, owner of John's Automotive Care in San Diego. He has been in the automotive industry since 1985. John is active in the community through the Boys and Girls Club. He is a board member of ASCCA and also serves on the ASCCA Endorsements Committee. John is a member of ASCCA Chapter 24 and has served as its secretary, vice president, and chair of the Meetings Committee. He is also on the ASCEF Board of Trustees and his shop is an ASCEF Cars for Careers donation site.

Will New Relationship with Cuba Eventually Doom its Classic American Cars?
An easing of restrictions on car imports could be the beginning of the end for the classic American cars that are still in everyday use in Cuba. Most Cubans are so poor it won't happen overnight, though. CNN has a slideshow of the old American Pontiacs and Chevys still found in Cuba.
