ASCCA Member of the Month - November

The ASCCA's member of the month for November is Steve Elstins, owner of West Coast Muffler in Concord. Steve was nominated by Chapter 20 because of his passion to make a difference in the industry. He has organized a Father's Day car show for the last 20 years and donated the proceeds to charity. Steve is also an ASCCA board member, chairs ASCCA's Education, Training and Information Committee, and is a member of ASCCA's Summer Conference and Government Affairs committees.

Hyundai and Kia Fined for Overstating Gas Mileage
Automakers Hyundai and Kia have been fined $100 million (plus over $200 million in lost regulatory credits) for overstating fuel-economy standards on 1.2 million vehicles, including some of their most popular models, such as Hyundai's Elantra, Accent, Veloster and Santa Fe vehicles, and Kia's Rio and Soul vehicles. Other automakers are wary about what this means for them.

Greg Potter Named ETI's New Executive Manager

The Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) has named Greg Potter as its new executive manager, effective November 1. Potter has held many position with ETI since 1985. ETI is a trade association of automotive tool and equipment manufacturers and technical information providers. In his new post, Potter will help influence ETI's member companies' products and market, and address the challenges they face in repairing vehicles correctly.
