Contest Ends This Week - Send in Your Entries Now!!!

SoCal's lead has held steady lately, and now stands at 62-35 with less than a week to go in the ASCCA countertop display contest. The deadline to submit entries is this Friday, September 12. The ASCCA's Facebook page shows updated results. Chapter Representatives from the losing region will serve winners sundae desserts at the September Team Weekend. Submit photos to Phil Boerner.

ASCCA Member of the Month - September

The ASCCA's member of the month for September is Raul Salgado of Raul's Auto Repair in Azusa and Covina; he is a member of ASCCA Chapter 5 (Foothill). Raul was inspired to become involved in automotive repair by ASCCA members, particularly Gene Morrill and Craig Johnson. He was able to own and run his very successful repair shop through hard work, training, and by having the right people working for him. From being an ASCCA member, he has gained a network of friends and created the best shop. He advises new ASCCA members to get to know their fellow ASCCA members and get involved with their local chapter. If you are not a member, Raul says to become a member as soon as possible!

Auto Sales in the U.S. this August the Highest Since 2003

(from Ratchet & Wrench) - The U.S auto industry had its best August in eleven years, selling nearly 1.6 million vehicles. Total sales for the year are projected to top 16 million vehicles, which was a common sales figure before the recent recession. Fiat-Chrysler led the way with a 20% gain in sales.

Call or Write Governor Brown and Urge him to Not Sign AB 1522

AB 1522 (Gonzalez) is now with the governor for his signature or his disapproval. This is the bill to mandate paid sick leave, which ASCCA opposes. Call or write to Governor Brown and tell him that you and ASCCA oppose this bill.
