Recognize a Colleague at the Summer Conference

As we gear up for our ASCCA Summer Conference, we would like to extend an opportunity for you to recognize those who have gone above and beyond in promoting the ASCCA through their service to our members and their community.

ASCCA's "Chalk on the Floor" Video Available for Members

The ASCCA's Public Relations Committee, chaired by Dennis Montalbano, has finished up the ASCCA's "Chalk on the Floor" video and it is now available for members to use to advertise their business and its connection to the ASCCA. It can be downloaded for free.
 
 
Members can contact Bob Harris to get the last five seconds of the 30-second commercial tagged with information on their auto shop. The fee for that is only $50. Bob can be reached at [email protected].

 

Gas Taxes Debated in D.C. to Fund National Transportation Program

The ongoing crisis over how to fund a national transportation program was at the top of the headlines during a busy week in Washington, D.C. First, President Obama and House tax chairman, Dave Camp, R-Mich., each released separate proposals using tax reform measures to pay for transportation projects. Second, both Chairman Senator Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and Congressman Bill Shuster, R-Pa., spoke to highway stakeholders about the future of legislation from each of their committees. Then, Chairman Shuster held a roundtable discussion with transportation advocates and members of his Transportation and Infrastructure Committee that had funding the program as a central theme.

In General Motors Recalls, Inaction and Trail of Fatal Crashes

General Motors has recalled nearly 1.4 million cars in the United States, including Cobalts, saying that the ignition switch can shut off a car's engine and electrical system, and disable its air bags. The G.M. recall, which started on Feb. 13 with 619,000 cars in the United States, has since more than doubled.
