June Member of the Month

Margie van Lierop, VIKING Auto Care Corp., Irvine, CA

In her own words: "My background is in media sales and marketing working for CBS or ABC affiliates for fifteen years. When I left the corporate world I started my entrepreneurial quests in small local advertising agencies and media consulting services which led me to a fun entrepreneurial adventure in starting a magazine titled "Beach Cities Style" which I founded, owned and published for 6-years in South Orange County. I sold that publication in 2008.

I have also dabbled in the music business touring with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band, Ringo Starr and His All-Star Band, White Zombie, Wynonna, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill. But this is another adventure for another time.

Now, I am businesswoman who owns an automotive repair shop and am taking a crash course, no pun intended, as to what needs to be applied toward the success of my business. Running my shop has been a huge learning curve for me especially making sure that I brand my business as a "woman-owned-and-run" business.

My media, sales & rock star experience has led me to hone my skills to provide the ultimate "Rock-Star" experience to each and every customer that steps foot into my shop.

My affiliation with ASCCA and Chapter 50, as well as other professional organizations and other shop owners has propelled the recognition of my shop in a very short time.

I am fortunate to have connected with ASCCA and attend every meeting to learn everything possible from those that are the "sages" in the business."

ASCCA members like Margie are shining examples of how One Member CAN Make a Difference!

"Like" ASCCA's Consumer Focused Facebook Page!

ASCCA has launched a consumer focused Facebook page Auto Repair Help by ASCCA. You can find us at  http://facebook.com/AutoRepairHelpbyASCCA.

The page is a piece of the Public Relations Committee's push to brand ASCCA to the motoring public. The committee envisioned a page that would provide useful auto repair tips to the average consumer and would, at the same time push those consumers to look to ASCCA for reliable auto repair information, and drive them to look for  ASCCA shops in their local communities. In collaboration with AutoVitals, Inc. the page has come to life!

AutoVitals is developing two apps for the page which will soon be available, 1) My Car - the My Car app will allow consumers to enter the make and model of their car and get maintenance information for their specific vehicle- the app will also contain a "Find a Local ASCCA Shop" feature which will include all active ASCCA shops, similar to the Find a Shop feature on the ASCCA website; and 2) ASCCA University- the ASCCA University app will be a video auto repair FAQ component, with several short videos.

The Public Relations committee selected AutoVitals, Inc. to develop and manage the new Facebook page, based on their expertise in the development of web-based products, social media and the auto repair industry.

Please take the time to "Like" and share the Auto Repair Help by ASCCA page and ask your customers, family and friends to "Like" and share as well. This very exciting new social media venture is a positive move for ASCCA and member shops - branding ASCCA and its members as leaders in the auto repair industry!

Special Thank You to ASCCA's Diamond Sponsors!
