YES! KINDERGARTNERS GET THEIR LIBRARY PRIVILEGES
Kindergartners checked out their first books ever from the BC library last week! In preparation for the big day, they talked about responsibility and what it means to have this privilege, how to browse for books on the shelves and how to use the computer to take a book out. Read more on the Lower School library blog.

5TH GRADE STUDY REAL-TIME DATA TO ANALYZE EARTHQUAKES
Fifth graders plotted real-time data from the U.S. Geological Survey to analyze earthquake location, magnitude and depth in Ms. Rubenstein's science class.

SPOTLIGHT: NINTH GRADE BIOLOGY
In 9th grade, students explore basic biological principles as well as current research in molecular/cellular biology, genetics, zoology (including human biology), botany, ecology, and evolution. During weekly lab sessions, they work cooperatively to improve their understanding of biology while learning and applying the scientific process. This week, students in Ms. Sefchovich's biology class dissected worms to better understand the body and the wider world.
4TH GRADERS STUDY HAND LETTERING
Fourth graders are learning how hand lettering helps artists create one-of-a-kind, customized, authentic design and can imbue their distinct personality and voice to art. They worked on their hand lettering skills in Ms. Mastrocola's art class. More photos.
ATHLETICS
Teams around the city, including BC, have recently experienced a number of last minute changes to game schedules due to a shortage of NYC soccer fields. Please read Athletics Director Dick McGrath's update for the latest on our schedules for the next two weeks.

PreK LEARNS ABOUT DIFFERENT TYPES OF FAMILIES
PreK students learned about different types of families at an assembly this morning. They played Just Like Me, an exercise during which students rose when teachers called out phrases that might describe their families such as "my family lives in two different houses" or "my family has one child." They also read Todd Parr's "The Family Book" and sang a song together. Watch a video or view more photos.

6TH GRADERS CREATE CALLIGRAPHIC ART
Sixth graders worked together to create large artwork made up of calligraphic circles, now displayed around Lincoln Place!
