Emma spoke about how we need to pay attention to the people who make an invisible difference, pointing to the kitchen staff at the camp she worked at over the summer as an example. MS STUDENT ACCEPTED TO JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER

  
ATHLETICS
Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer team and the Cross Country Team who had amazing weeks and seasons.  Boys Varsity Soccer advanced to the League Championship Final for the first time in school history and the Cross Country Team brought home a pair of medals from the ACIS Championship. The Girls Varsity Soccer team also finished a winning season. A recap of this week from Athletics Director Dick McGrath will follow soon. All Fall teams were recognized at today's pep rally. 9TH GRADE MEETS THE ENLIGHTENMENT THINKERS
Voltaire, Montesquieu, Descartes, Newton and Wollstonecraft were recently at BC! 9th grade history students researched, wrote about and became an Enlightenment thinker who they embodied during class at "Enlightenment salons." They brought props - everything from a violin to Lego men - to visually represent the figures they selected.

AMERICAN STUDIES TAKES ON THE BATTLE OF BROOKLYN
Ms. Drezner gives a model American Studies walking tour on the Battle of Brooklyn following a unit on the American Revolution - juniors will each conduct tours of their own on a variety of topics in the spring.

 Aliza Goldberg '09 is working toward her master's degree in international affairs at Columbia University and plans to become a journalist when she graduates. "What I learned from Berkeley Carroll was how to foster curiosity. That's something I remember even from elementary school." Watch the short video here.

LOWER SCHOOL TEACHER CELEBRATES BOOK LAUNCH
Lower School Music Teacher Carolyn Sloan recently celebrated the release of her new book, "Welcome to the Symphony," with a sold-out event that featured a performance by a chamber orchestra and a dramatization of the book narrated by puppets. The puppets were co-designed by Kindergarten Head Teacher Tanya Khordoc who also played some of the puppets in the show, as did LS Associate Teacher Sarah Ely. 6TH GRADERS LEAD TREE TOURS
Sixth graders took to the trees this morning! Using dichotomous keys they designed themselves, they taught friends, family and faculty how to identify trees and leaf characteristics on Lincoln Place. More photos here
 
3RD GRADERS LEARN RUSSIAN SONG & DANCE
Third Graders are learning a Russian counting song and dance as part of a joint project between the Arts department and the 3rd Grade Immigration Studies unit. Students are singing songs and playing games from around the world.
 
 
ROOF GARDEN YIELDS DELICIOUS HARVEST
Middle School Science Teacher Hillary Rubenstein writes: "Except for the herbs, it is the end of the fall harvest from the 181 rooftop garden! Today students picked and snacked on carrots, radishes and pea shoots."
