CLASS OF 2015: COMMENCEMENT & COLLEGE NEWS!
Congratulations to the 63 members of the Class of 2015 who graduated from Berkeley Carroll today, May 29th, at our 128th Commencement Exercises. Alexandra P. '15 and Julia '15 both spoke on behalf of the class.
Commencement Speaker and New York Times columnist Charles M. Blow reminded the graduates to remember the teachers and friends that have impacted them, be open to change, love themselves for who they are, understand and recognize privilege and to work hard for success. PARENTS & ALUMS SHARE CAREER EXPERIENCES IN SYMPOSIUM
Freshmen, sophomores and juniors got a taste of the real world this morning at BCS' first-ever Career Symposium. Keynote speaker John Carnesecchi, a BCS parent who is a therapist and a career, organizational and leadership consultant, spoke about his own career path and gave students advice on how to think about their own professional goals.Students then heard from 30 other BCS parents and alums, who spoke about their careers in 9 panels. 4TH GRADE FIELD TRIP COMBINES SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES
To wrap up their studies on the physics of simple machines in science and New Amsterdam in social studies, 4th graders visited South Street Seaport for a sailing trip and walking tour. Lower School Science Teacher Becky Blumenthal says "This trip revealed the power of a field trip to not only to bring classroom studies to life, but also to reunite academic disciplines and illuminate their multi-dimensional connections." JUNIOR REPRESENTS BCS AT NATIONAL SPEECH CHAMPIONSHIP
Congrats to Kirsten E. '16 who was one of 2,600 students who competed at the annual National Catholic Forensic League Championships at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Her specialty is extemporaneous speaking, which allows students only 30 minutes to prepare a 7-minute long speech delivered without notes on a current events question not previously seen.
