SENIOR PROJECTS

Seniors Will B., Sophie H., Maya C. and Emma N. presented their Senior Project presentations, the culmination of an intensive, year-long study. Will focused on the relationship between new sincerity and post modern irony in David Foster Wallace's "Infinite Jest." Sophie talked about icons using Marilyn Monroe as a case study of someone who is remembered more for her persona than for her work.

Maya explained how gymnastics is physics in motion, using Newton's Laws of Motions and Galileo's Leaning Tower of Pisa experiment to illustrate aspects of the sport. Emma looked at Vladimir Nabokov's "Lolita" through an Iranian lens, using Azar Nafisi "Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books" as a guide.

KINDERGARTNERS LAUNCH 2 TOY STORES & PIZZERIA
Kindergartners have been very busy this month.  Ms. Misrock-Stein's class created their own business, The Crimson Lion Toy StoreThrough visits to Park Slope's Norman & Jules and Little Things, as well as online research, they learned how to run a toy store and compared prices. At the grand opening, each "employee" guided their "customers" through the store, showing them the merchandise, ringing them up and gift wrapping their purchases. More photos.

Kindergartners in Ms. Paller's class opened their own pizzeria -- they delivered "order in" pies (made from a recipe by Mario Batali!) to parents and waited on Ms. Khordoc's class in person. Ms. Khordoc's students learned the ins and outs of running a toy store -- they made and sold toys of their own. More photos.
