GLOBAL ACADEMIC PROGRAM UPDATES 

Upper School students have been busy in Spain and India during Spring Intensives! Spring Intensives have come to a close after a busy two weeks of study, trips and speakers! Lots of photos here from the 18 courses students took this year, including Human Origins: From Australopithecus to Homo Sapiens, It's Not Just Who Lives Here: Documenting Brooklyn Neighborhoods Through the Camera Lens, Music and Technology, and Journalism 101: The Brooklyn Beat.


STUDENT WINS GOLD AT INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION

Congrats to 7th grader Jasper Heymann, who won a gold medal at the American Association for Development of the Talented and Gifted's 2015 International Young Gifted Musicians Competition! He performed at the winner's recital at Carnegie Hall on Sunday. More photos.

We'd like to thank you all for making the Benefit for Berkeley Carroll such a

LOWER SCHOOL STUDENTS IN ACTION!

Lower School students have been busy! Over the past few weeks, they've built suspension bridges and model playgrounds, learned about Colombian culture, visited Construction Kids and more. Photos.

 

 

JAZZ BAND PLAYS LINCOLN CENTER ELLINGTON INVITATIONAL

The Upper School Jazz Band participated in the Jazz at Lincoln Center Ellington Invitational at Fordham University, a non-competitive showcase featuring world-renowned clinicians and performances. Two BCS students received outstanding soloist awards, Kirt Thorne '16 and Mokhtar Rajai '18 and a great day was had by all!" Read more.

3RD GRADERS VISIT CHINESE MUSIC ENSEMBLE

Third graders visited the Chinese Music Ensemble of New York to learn about and listen to ancient Chinese Music! The trip was part of the students' ongoing study of China. More photos.

  

LOWER SCHOOL LAUNCHES FIRST-EVER ART SHOWCASES 

The Second Grade Art Showcase this morning featured students' puzzle self-portraits! Other grades will have their own showcases throughout the rest of the school year - a first at BCS. More photos. 

  

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL CONQUERS NEWSPAPER CHALLENGE 

Middle schoolers completed the STEAM Fair Newspaper Challenge. They were tasked with designing and constructing a 30-inch high stand for one of the library's heaviest book - "30,000 Years of Art" - which weighs 13 pounds, out of only newspapers and masking tape. More photos. 

 

 

APP DEVELOPERS VISIT 5TH GRADE HUMANITIES
App developers visited a humanities class this week to see how students use their new sentence-structure app, Sentopiary, in the classroom. The fifth graders also got to ask the developers questions about app creation and programming. More photos.
   

 

PARENT ASSOCIATION TAKES TO THE SLOPES
