Daniel Smith Wildlife

Animal Palette
Spring 2014

Spring is a time of renewal for both flora and fauna.  I am always thrilled to witness new arrivals including a black bear with two cubs and the birth of a whitetail deer fawn.  We have also had a few bull elk pass through that were sprouting new antlers as well.  I am fascinated by how fast antlers grow in the short time span of about three months.

As always, I stand in awe of the natural world and feel privileged to live in a setting that fuels my passion for painting wildlife.

It has been a very busy year painting away at the easel. Unfortunately I do not have many pieces to reveal at this point.  I have a few completed but won't make their debut until August.  I am currently working on my piece for the Jackson Hole Art Auction.  It has been quite the challenge but It is slowly coming together.  I love painting bison and all the textures involved certainly help bring the piece to life.  I really look forward to sharing it with you along with a few other pieces I will have available this fall.

Pictured above is my painting, "The Scout" which will be available at the Masters in Miniature Show at the Trailside Gallery in Jackson, WY opening July 21st.

Thank you for all of your continued support.  If you would like a sneak peak or have any questions feel free to email me.

All my best,
Adam

Spring Wonders

Above is a photo of the whitetail doe with her newborn fawn.  We watched her clean the very cute but awkward fawn at the edge of our front yard.  This was our first encounter of this kind in our eighteen years of living here ... very special!

New Reproduction
"Epic Heights"

Bighorn sheep are excellent ambassadors for their beautiful and austere alpine environment. They thrive in the extreme elements of the Rocky Mountains that create the safe harbor of their existence. With Epic Heights, Dan achieves in this painting a balance between the sheep and their habitat that stirs the soul and speaks to the spirit.

Unveiled at the 2014 Masters of the American West Exhibition and Sale, this Fine Art Edition Giclče Canvas showcases how his meticulous field research and insistence on directly observing the animals he paints achieves a work of great authenticity. Epic Heights" has an edition size of 75 and an image size of 36"w x 22"h.

Please visit his giclee collection for more information.
