Find Your Balance at Segerstrom
|
A grandpa and his granddaughter wobble their way back to a beautiful bond during Walking the Tightrope, a brand-new production taking the stage October 15-16 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
Winner of three LA Drama Critics Circle Awards, three LA Weekly Awards and nominated for seven Ovation Awards, Walking the Tightrope is writer Mike Kenny's sweet and funny story of a grandfather who, while trying to tell his 5-year-old granddaughter that Grandma is gone, builds a loving new relationship with her. With the help of a single clown, they discover the meaning of family.
"This is theater at its best, a wonderful, tear-filled evening for all ages that should not be missed." - Huffington Post
"In its pitch-perfect West Coast premiere, British playwright Mike Kenny's perceptive take on the eternal cycle is as artfully simple, theatrically poetic and deeply affecting a chamber piece as any in recent memory." - Los Angeles Times
Perfect for kids in grades 4-7, Walking the Tightrope is a tender fable that uses video, sound design and original music to transport audiences from Grandad's quaint 1959 English seaside cottage to the spectacular big top of the circus. Don't miss the magic!
