Make Flossing a Daily Habit
What do shopping and flossing have in common? Both share a day of recognition: Black Friday, November 28, is also National Flossing Day!

It's fitting that we celebrate the day after Thanksgiving. After meals, flossing helps remove food debris and bacteria that can lead to plaque buildup, tooth decay and gum disease, even in baby teeth. Flossing also helps prevent gum disease by increasing blood circulation.

Here are tips from Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County for making flossing a fun and healthy daily habit.

First, wash your hands
Unroll about 18 inches of dental floss to use
Floss your kids' teeth until they can do it themselves, usually around age 9
For young kids, flossers are sometimes easier to use and come in colorful shapes
Practice a gentle up and down motion along the sides of every tooth
Be careful not to rub floss back and forth across gums
For each tooth, use a new section of clean floss
Each day spend at least one minute flossing
Try waxed floss or dental tape if teeth are close together
Don't worry about a little bleeding; it should stop once gums are healthier

Black Friday shopping deals expire, but the good dental hygiene practices you teach your children will last a lifetime.

Up Up and Away Consignment Sale

OC's largest and #1 baby and kids consignment sale event, voted BEST consignment sale in the region, is "popping-up" again, November 20-23 in Yorba Linda. Wrap up your holiday shopping!

At Up Up And Away, families can save money and make money at the same time. Consignors earn top dollar for their items while buyers save a ton of money purchasing name-brand, new and nearly new items (clothing, toys, strollers, highchairs, books, outdoor play, etc.) at less than half the cost of department stores.

They are not a store open year-round; instead they hold huge four-day events, four times a year with 40,000+ items.  Anything and everything babies and kids need, use and want, all under one roof. Free and open to the public, you do not need to be a consignor to attend and purchase items.
