Stuff the Bus
Live United - United Way
Together, we can make a real impact.

People can help 'Stuff the Bus' by bringing school supplies to the WOW! sponsored Marshall Radio Mello Yello  event at the Marshall National Guard Armory on Wednesday, July 24, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, where a school bus will be available to place supplies. Additionally, Lincoln County 4H is collecting supplies at the Lincoln County Fair, August 1 - 3.

Direct contributions (noted on the memo line for school supply purchase) can also be sent to United Way of Southwest MN, P.O. Box 41, Marshall, MN 56258. Donations are accepted year round for this project; however, purchases will be made on Tuesday August 6th. Any donations received after that date will be put towards "Stuff The Bus" 2014.

School staff will make sure that the supplies reach those who really need some extra support.  Last year, approximately 700 children at 22 schools were helped with backpacks and school supplies from this project.

Donation barrels are also in place at Shopko, Wal-Mart, Kmart, Marshall Area YMCA, County Fair, HyVee, Old Home Bakery, Marshall Lyon County Library and the United Way of Southwest MN office, 109 S. 5th Street, Marshall.

  Stuff the Bus Bin

This project is coordinated by United Way of Southwest Minnesota with support from the Lyon County Alliance for Youth and Families. This project is possible due to the generosity of the community responding to the need: churches, organizations, businesses and employee groups collecting supplies and financial donations, Schwan Food Company Jean Day contributions, The Salvation Army donating backpacks and financial support and our partnership with Marshall Radio and WOW!, to promote the supply drive. Groups still interested in taking part in collection efforts should contact United Way right away to find out what supplies are especially needed this year.

A Stuff the Bus collection effort is also occurring in Canby in partnership with local volunteers and the C4K Club to gather supplies for the schools in Canby.  Donations can be brought to the August 6 National Night Out event in that community.
