Read for the Record 2012
Our area took part in Jumpstart's October 4 Read for the Record event, a nationwide effort to draw attention to the importance of early literacy while setting a new world record for the largest shared reading experience on a single day.  Locally, at 16 school districts and 9 libraries, 71 volunteers read to 2031 children and teachers.  These and all the KMHL radio listeners definitely contributed to the grand total of 2,385,305 participants nationwide who read "Lady Bug Girl and the Bug Squad" that day.  (Photo:  United Way campaign ambassador, Jeremiah Jans of Wells Fargo Bank took time to read to students at Holy Redeemer School).
To date, the annual fund-raising campaign has recorded donations totaling 30% of the overall goal.
